Yep. That's all it is. The funny thing is I'd imagine some of these 'negotiations' and discussions between various clubs would have happened weeks ago. Particularly for clubs that didn't make finals.

It's not like clubs for a lot of deals / players only first discussed trade details on day 1 of the trade period.

It's all just a bit of theatrics to create drama and headlines to further promote AFL and keep the game in the headlines for as long as possible.

You could make the trade period run for only 3-days, nearly the same amount of deals would be done as in the 9-day time frame IMO
It genuinely only needs to go for 5 days. The AFL milking this for all its worth. Especially since you have 5 days, then a weekend where no trades can conveniently be lodged, before it finishes midweek? When the news cycle needs ANYTHING because mid week in off season is completely dead.

If trade week finishes Friday last week, then you have the weekend news cycle and other sports dominating.

I am absolutely certain a ton of trades have been completed by Saturday, and they will drip feed them today, tomorrow and Wednesday.

It's alright for you blokes who have other useless stuff to fill up the day, like work, etc.

I reckon it should go until the next Test Match.

I just went out and mowed the lawns and sprayed the weeds. I knew no trades were done or any breaking news by looking at the pages of this thread. So there only a couple of new pages!

I'm on long service leave at the moment, I wish I was at work to take my mind off it 🤣

All things being equal. which it isn't this kid probably should be considered in and around our pick..

spring , speed and stamina... and can play.

WEST Australian talent Reuben Ginbey furthered his top-10 credentials after being the dominant player in the testing at the NAB AFL Draft Combine.

The 189cm midfielder has progressed quickly throughout this season to be in many clubs' thoughts at the very top end of the draft and underlined his athleticism in the round of tests on Sunday in Melbourne.

Ginbey finished equal fourth in the vertical jump (leaping 70cm) and in the top-10 of the running vertical jump (83cm) test. He also placed in the top-five for the 2km time trial, completing the run in 6:15 minutes, and top-10 in the 20m sprint, recording a time of 2.928 seconds.

It showed the East Perth product's athletic upside, with Ginbey starting his season as a rebounding half-back before shifting into the midfield. He looks set to be a very early pick when names are called in November.

West Coast can have him so it drops Clark and Humphrey further down the list.

Can he play football?

The first week is only to gauge the severity of but hurt among opposing supporters for preposed trades and compile a list of how to get maximum bang for the second week with the crescendo Wednesday late and this year Geelong are the winners with Henry and Bowes plus 7 leading the but hurt with day light to second.

Just needs to be from VIC to give us ultimate peace of mind 😉🤣

or Barwon Heads or Queenscliff or Armstrong etc etc..
I'll say Ocean Grove, I'm biased as I live here. I do regularly see Joel Selwood in Barwon Heads. He must leave around here too.

You can see the attraction of the Bellarine Peninsula as to why many want to come down here. Having lived here for a couple of years now, it really is amazing..

Jade Rawlings seems like only yesterday....we couldn't attract anyone, it's hard to believe now but success plays a big part too I guess

Jackson trade complete.

Luke Jackson has been traded to Fremantle in a deal involving GWS. Melbourne gets pick 13, Fremantle's future first round pick and future second round pick (tied to the Dockers) in exchange for Jackson, picks 44 and 67. GWS gets Toby Bedford.

Melbourne making out like bandits, Jackson was ordinary this year, dont rate him

Coop ain't going anywhere this off-season. Just something put out there by Montagna and enquiries made by GC. He's currently one of the 14 overseas with the Geelong boys in Ireland, so he'd be blindsided if that happened.

Absolutely no chance he leaves this trade period, IMO. We don't let players go this early on, unless they themselves force the issue
I agree with the (strong) view that the cats won’t want him out. I had a question in my own mind as to whether the trades in (2 midfield and a top 10 pick prob a midfielde?) might prompt him to explore. Given we haven’t heard anything and he is away I think that is unlikely

Amazing! Didn't think he was worth that

Izak Rankine done, but still no Bowes. Interesting...wonder what the hold up is...

Talk on Trade Radio that Hamling to Geelong is getting some momentum.

Maybe yes, maybe no... Would cost us not much.

Wait and see but either way it's not a big trade.

You know what - if we keep Sav and dont do the Henry deal this year, we are overall a better team and we add picks 7 and 25. Still a great offseason with Bowes, Bruhn, retaining F1, pick 7 and 25. If we trade Sav and get Henry then maybe better long term or not but not the end of the world.
Agree. I suspect in the end henry gets done for 25. Collingwood don’t have options unless they play real tough and not sure this is the trade to do that with. unless they really think he is say a top 12 or better pick then they should hold him. But if they think high teens is fair then frankly they will just have to take 25
