He sulked because he couldnt get a game and left.

I don't blame the guy. He was 22 and was shoehorned into defence for two games, then dropped (as we had Hawkins and Cameron already). At that age, guys who aren't playing AFL don't get many chances before they get delisted. IIRC, Collingwood offered him regular football up forward - which he would have played if his body had held up.

If he had stayed at Geelong, he probably wouldn't have an AFL career at the moment. As it is, Collingwood haven't delisted him yet - and he may yet find a suitor elsewhere.

I think sometimes we forget that these guys are professionals and their foothold in the game can be really tenuous. If they can stay in the game till their early thirties - even if it's just as the guy on the fringe of selection - it is the difference between being set up for life with a house and a nest egg, or having to go back to Uni or on the tools at age 24, but a few years behind everyone else.

I’m not sure how it will all end up but Richmond’s draft haul is exciting. To be bringing that large a crop of youngsters in at once is quite unique.

No, it traded away 10, 11 and 18, and got back Bolton and 14.

Ricardi wouldn't move to play VFL - he's contracted until 2026, so a move where he'd be a best 22 player could be of interest, but to be a backup doesn't necessarily change his current situation

Taberner is an easy pass - he's been subbed off 8 times in the past 4 seasons, struggled with continuity over recent seasons due to injury which has limited him to 9 senior games since 2023. Even as a back up option, you want to know they can get on the park

Tomlinson has never been linked to us

As for Kreuger, there's been recent suggestions that a few bridges were burnt when he moved to Collingwood. So while there was some early trade speculation that he may find his way back to us, it sounds like we've put a stop to that

Id be happy to add someone like Sims as a long term development player. I think we we have enough options to kick enough goals as long we give them enough supply..

Not really. Bolton is a very, very good footballer and in contract. He's also the exact type of player Freo need.

Completely agree.

I'd be super satisfied if i was a freo supporter.

They got maximum value out of the shultz trade, got clarke who had a super year and now they've identified a clear need and gone out and got the player. Bolton is exactly what they need, it's two first round picks but nothing in the single digits. the picks will be pushed back a little too.

The main thing is that they are entering the window and bolton makes them better.
