Gilbert and Goddard incidents

Leigh Brown copped a week for a swinging arm in a marking contest. Even though he had no idea where the opponent was exactly positioned behind him. Goddard was in a position and would have been well aware of where his opponent was.

Exactly. It wont happen though. He will play next week.

Goddard would get a week during the home and away season but i doubt he will get anything now.

Exactly, as the muppets calling the game said. It was a dog act but neutral fans want to see the two sides in the GF playing with their best players. Mind you the AFL is a joke right now so wouldn't be surprised to see him go,

Lol at Collingwood supporters in this thread trying to make out like they should be suspended.

Let them play their full team, it's finals for **** sake.

both will play

I don't know mate.

But you've obviously OD'd on sour grapes.

Not at all. Didn't expect to win or even get close. Also I'm just going off a radio call and what they said.

You may note I haven't posted in the Roo trip thread.

For the record, I really hope St Kilda is at full strength (no suspensions and the injured guys are OK) and next week is a cracker game.

I just posted this because I'm curious about what I heard from the radio call.

Let them play...I want the best team out there for both of us

Agree, unless a player gets an advantge from a reportable offence ie player is injured or they goal etc, they should get let off. Worst feeling when a player misses out and their was really nothing in it. I still bleed over Rocca in 2003 as Lade was not hurt. J CLoke should have gone in 02 as he KO'd Edwards.

To the OP & everyone who agrees with the above....

If they can let Barry Hall off for CLEARLY punching Matt Maguire in the stomach then suspend for this rubbish.... the game is surely a farce!

If Goddard or Gilbert are suspended, surely Daisy "Flower-girl" Thomas gets 2 for his "bump"?!?!?!

Wouldnt have wanted C.ling to get suspended for his punch on Leroy

The Goddard incident was accidental contact to the face. He was throwing his arms back in the marking contest, the defender was in a slightly crouched position and his arm caught the defender high once or twice and a free kick was rightly awarded.

No different really than when a player with the ball goes to push off his opponent/tackler and makes contact to the throat/face.

there is no way that i would want to see goddard or roo suspended. the problem is the dipsh*ts at the MRP do suspend players for these types of incidents and sometimes even less!

also, in regards to the thomas incident why should he get suspended. players are making a habit of leading in with their head, instigating high contact. its gonna happen. if a player goes in to take out another player then that is different.

a bit of common sense...

Thread screams of sour grapes. Finals football. Minor incidents. Play on.

You would hope so. I didn't see the Gilbert incident so can't comment. Goddard seemed pretty accidental and maybe a 50/50 call in H&A, hopefully they will be a bit more generous in finals.

Dal Santo should be Ok. Didn't see the Hayes incident (was their one?>)

Flower-girl? Lame

I am worried about the incident with Daisy, I do believe he was diving for the ball but if he did make head contact, then he could be in trouble. They have been enforcing that rule all year whether it was accidental or not.

Goddard, Gilbert and possibly Riewoldt will probably be in trouble as well. I hope not, but you never know with the tribunal

Hopefully the tribunal will disregard all the incidents and let the teams play their best players...... BRING IT ON...we are ready!.

nothing in any of these 'incidents'
And there was something in Mumford tackling Ablett? Nobody knows what the MRP will do so everything is hypothetical and why they are discussed. Goddard's doesn't look as good when he looked directly at Picken rather than the ball and his first bump was the freekick for high contact and then there was another shrug to maintain position and then the elbow was raised and thrown back which is the discussion point here.

Thomas' will probably be looked at but the only reason for high contact was that he got to the ball first. Riewoldt intentionally tripped but everybody knows that it won't be looked at. If none of them are investigated by the MRP then it could lead to problems in the GF where players think they have more leeway then they should. Riewoldt could find himself on the ground in the first quarter and since his last trip wasn't punished then he may trip another player and injure them. The best case scenario is that they are reported and get off or get fined so that they can play in the GF.

Will be no suspensions, bank on it.
Goddard did enough to disguise it to get off, shouldn't lose a GF appearance over it.
