Have heard Troy Makepeace has resigned as Moe coach. Anyone know anything about this?
I have been told Moe going in a new direction this season , just not sure which direction they are talking about. No thirds , No coach not good.

My mistake ,it is central murray which is still not that good but better than if we were considered no better than the lowly murray league i guess. Either way ,a loss will see us go down to that standard.Central Murray still has the towns of Swan Hill and Kerang in there but as you say nothing like the population base we have to pick from down here. When you consider it was only a decade or so ago that we were regularly matched up against the likes of the O&M and GVFL it's been a huge drop in the rankings.I was never a fan of the lightning premiership format of a few years ago and in a way couldn't blame the best players for not wanting to travel for hours around the state to play that crap.If only the GL was playing Murray 71!
They're playing off for seventh and eighth rankings with the Hampden League. We're playing Central Murray which boast such bustling metropolises like Lalbert, Woorinen, Manangatang, and Nyah, which all make Stratty look like Melbourne.
Will be interesting to see how the new format of picking the actual side four weeks out works. Agreed that something had to be done. Looking at a map and census data the lay-person would be dumbfounded to know that a league that has the ten largest populations represented over such a large defined area with six minor league surrounding it would be the ninth -ranked country leauge in the state. It's embarassing, and I agree that something different had to be attempted to make sure we had close to our best players representing us.

Lachlan Sim has taken over at Moe as head coach. Good to see the great saviour himself has come back to pull Moe out of the s**t once again! As for direction it seems they have gone back 12 years to the late 90's. Any chance of back to back grand finals again? Surely they cant continue to turn to him everytime they find themselves at the bottom end of the ladder.
The strength of the GFL varies a lot from year to year .If you look at this season for example if everybody was available the GFL would include Dylan McLaren ,Peter McFarlane as well as Matt ferguson ,there's 3 quality bigmen that weren't around last year.Of those however i think Matt Ferguson is the only one playing on Saturday. The O&M is in a bit of strife itself! lose on Saturday to the MPNFL and it's back to the 7th v 8th playoff next year, could very well be against Gippy.
Ballarat is IMO the strongest comp in the state now.
Plenty of coin, minimal travel from Melbourne for the metro guns and a growing reputation.
I still believe that the O&M is better than GV, just had a major farce last season with player commitment which resulted in an unexpected loss.
the O&M will have a better team than last year on Saturday but guys like Chris Hyde and Marcus McMillan (who'd get games for every league in the state with ease) still aren't committing to rep footy which is very disappointing.
I think it's a problem every comp has to deal with which is sad. Everyone would love to see the best of the best out there.
Anything to do with it's recruiting bigspecky?
To do with what?
I think he's asking if the way they recruited has anything to do with their current state??
They will have to recruit most of their senior team over the next few seasons seeing they don't have any juniors coming through. What a discrace not having a Moe thirds side.
Hope their comittee no what there doing.
You say you hope the committee knows what they are doing as if they intentionally flicked the 3rds team. I am going to take a punt that they did all they could do and were unfortunately unable to field a side, as opposed to making a conscious decision to go without a 3rds side this year so that the u16s could have a little sleep in and start a touch later.
And, in relation to having to recruit most of their senior side due to not having 3rds, it will probably mean they have to recruit an additional player or 2, but the only way they would have to recruit a whole senior side is if as well as not having a 3rds side, every current player at the club was to leave. Fair enough, 3rds might contribute between 1 - 5 players per year into the senior side, but it is not as though every 3rds kid in this years side was going to make up the Moe senior side next year. Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill.

You should get involved there, Tomm. To me, it sounds like you may have some ideas for them to get their thirds back on the park for 2012. Im sure Beky and Simmy would love to hear from guys like you that have a concern and could help.
Get involved. Taking pot-shots helps no-one. And Im not having a shot at you.
Im not sure who you are, Tomm so I dont know why that would get you laughing. Do you live too far away?
Come on Plugger, surely by now you have worked out the majority of posters on here know everything, and contribute nothing. Why would he help, when he can sit back, leave it to others, and then criticise them when they fail??

How right you are.
No cheap shot intended . I would hate to criticize any footy club that fails to field a thirds team in a major league. No who ever is responsible have done their best. We should all just say nothing and except the fact we no nothing and sit back and watch others do nothing.
Anyway Plugger who's this Becy you talk of ??

Lachlan Sim isn't it?what's the president's name??
They will just steall all of Newborough's best players like they have been doing for 20 or 30 years. (Somerville, Sim, Rissol etc etc)
Sorry. Its Beky.
I am pretty sure Jason Bek is president there, Tomm.
