Anyone know what colors Wonthaggi are going to be in this year ,reading the age today in the country footy section in the middle pages ,their jumper looks a lot like Warragul's and even if the colors are different , that design on two teams playing each other would be really hard to distinguish you'd imagine. If the league heads were smart they would make them go back to the old "blues" jumper to avoid a clash.
Don't know much about the other clubs in the comp as to who they have lost and picked up but everybody if who has predicted the ladder is in the know and Sale are going to finish that close to the bottom ,the standard of the league is going to be a lot higher ,because Sale look to be as strong if not stronger than their last premiership year a couple of seasons back.
Hey Nugget, i checked the Liston Medallists, can you tell me which one he is?!! Or dont you know?Mate your kidding about maffra finishing that low they have picked up 6 or 7 players that would have walked into there senior premiership side last year these include a 202cm former afl listed ruckmen and a liston medallist!!!
Really didn't think it was relevant to mention them again as it has been mentioned previously. Maffra have also picked up Matt Johnston and a stack of good players who were injured last year or played elsewhere.
I have been told and whether this is true or not but apparently they (Maffra) will have 70 players to pick two sides from!!! Phenomenal effort indeed and shows just how strong they will be again this year.
People left Warragul because they were unhappy or to get better opportunity elsewhere. I can only think of a select few younger players who left the Gulls chasing money. However, it's an insanely massive amount and which apprenticeships paying so little, can you really blame them for wanting to have a little extra?Have lost a few of their younger players, but it has a lot to do with, from what I know, the absolute bullshit money that some smaller league clubs throw at younger players. But then if you were a young fella what are you supposed to do? The loyalty factor has certainly gone out the door. Feel sorry for Fusi and others who are doing the job at Warragul!
Ouch, low blow. When you get beaten by Neerim South you know your struggling!
Out of the 2008 side ,we have lost M.Todd, Power S.Anderson ,D.Ivey,T.Leeds and J.McLay.We have gained J.Dessent ,Stasinowski (not sure of his first name),N.Flint ,M.Davis ,T.Light ,those two guys from Bairnsdale (not sure or their names either) and Gooch has come back from WA.Add to that the two Power boys L.Todd and R.Pendlebury who would play finals should we make it ,judging by the way Power are looking they won't be active too far into September and of course Crossy who has come a long way since 2008.All these guys mentioned are good senior players ,yeah we're looking pretty good ourselves wouldn't you think?.Ruck division looks a bit light on though.I agree they should be strong, but to say they will be stronger then our premiership year is a big call, to early to tell. I guess time will tell. good luck to the boys anyway.
Yeah it is Craig isn't it i think there is an N.Flint around town ,might be his Grandfather or something so i was fairly close Nugget.Maffra V Sale should be great game in a few weeks ,we might get a bit closer this year.Either way ,it will give the Sale boys an indication of how much they've improved (if at all).Yeah Nattington Flint is a good player, his name is Craig Flint fromer AFL listed player and so on, was a bit stiff at Carlton got promoted to play in the seniors and broke his leg the week before. Jarryd Clohesy has been impressive from all reports, the bairnsdale boys are Tom Smith and Dave Waddel.
Just because we seem to have the most subscribers to this board ,i don't think any Sale supporter has actually said that we are going to win it this year ,only that the team will be better than last season.Traralgon ,Maffra and according to some insiders ,Morwell will be the teams to beat this year.Maffra Drouin should be an interesting game seeing as the last time they played , Hayden Burgiel left the ground with a broken cheekbone.Anybody got any thoughts on round one clashes this week?
- Are the games open and shut with Maffra and Drouin being match of the round?
- Will the Sale fans be narrowing down their grand final opponent already on Saturday night?
- Will Warragul and Moe silence pre-season critics?
- How much can you really tell from the first couple of rounds given that after round 5 last year Traralgon had won one game and Leongatha were undefeated on top?
what criticism has moe received? Not having a home base due to their ground being redeveloped will be there biggest hassle but they've recruited ok, there losses have predominately been reserves type players and there pre-season form has been good with good wins over Hastings and Beaconsfield. there only concern will be a lack of depth, but that remains to be seen. i wouldnt be writing them off just yet.Anybody got any thoughts on round one clashes this week?

I think he means that the ground is probably normal on the actual playing surface, but beyond the fence it goes up hill on all sides creating an amphitheatre effect which is good for viewing.
I would love to se a ground with the low point in the middle though, would make for tough centre clearance work on the wet days!!!
Correct - I didn't mean the playing surface (which is normal, ie slopes out from the centre) - I meant from the fence away from the ground, it's all uphill.
As someone else said, makes a kind of amphitheatre. Must be about 15 years since I was last there though.
Whats the mail on Drouin this year ,only went down by 2 points to Maffra ,not a bad effort considering Maffra have picked up what...7or 8 players to add to their GF winning side from last year according to insiders.Either Drouin have improved shitloads or Maffra might not be as good as everybody is predicting still,it's only Rd 1 i suppose.
