honestly rugby league would survive without perth, it isnt in some sort of pissing contest with the afl to put dots on a map, last year i drove through perth and it seemed like the size of chatswood.

I mean really...

Nothing to do with a contest with afl, there's obviously a demand for a team in Perth. They always get good crowds for trials and games played there. Over 20,000 last night Manly vs Warriors and its a perfect timeslot to slot in with other nrl games. Afl, soccer and rugby union teams, but no rugby league team leaves me scratching my head.

Perth is plenty big enough to support an NRL team - population-wise and in terms of corporate support. And the city already has a long history with RL and a decent admin/junior base to build on.

Adelaide, however, the NRL could easily live without. (Sorry South Australians). Too small, not enough $$$, hardly any history with RL, plenty of bigger areas that actually have an interest. Brisbane II, 2nd NZ, Perth, Central Coast, PNG, a fifth QLD team would all come before Adelaide.

There's surviving and then there's thriving.

And size of Chatswood, what, did you land at the airport and drive straight to Bunbury? It's just 300k shy of Brisbane and has the highest household income in the country.
