Autopsy goal loss vs *Essendon

I was lucky enough to be at the 94 GF when we're 6 goals up at 3 qtr time and kicked 8 goals to 1 in the last qtr and it's still one of my favourite days at the footy despite being 12 y.o

Was sh*t scared of playing King Carey and the Roos if Yablett hadn't grabbed that mark in the Prelim

I'm sure you'll get over it eventually.

Yeah maybe look at the facts before you post

Nice graphic. Wrong. But nice. I will admit that I had D'Amrosio's birthday wrong so the average * birthday was January 26, 1998 - 16 dates later than I originally said.

Thanks for reading my post though.

Just caught a clip of Brad’s presser on First Crack where he mansplains that they had the younger side out there today, “facts”. What a *stick. I see what everyone meant now.
Unfortunately what they did have was the team that were a little more aggressive around the clearances. When we won them we were great. Just not quite enough. We have the skills but we can talk forever, its all about fitness. Proper fitness, not the usual crap, just sprinting continually.

Hope you Ziebell apologists are starting to realise he is costing us.

A defender who can't defend or kick. Him and Hall are liabilities.
Jack had a dirty day, that's for sure. For whatever reason, his defensive weaknesses were exposed today, and his kicking was poor which was disappointing given it's been pretty good, on the whole, this year.

I'd like to think Goater comes in for Hall when available.

Wards is a gun. Things happen for a reason. If JHF had stayed we wouldn’t have got him. Very grateful.
The thing is, regardless of ability and potential, I think we lucked out as Harry and George suit us a whole lot better, for the type of people they are, and the types of players they are.

Goldy was very poor today. He wasn’t up for the contest and it killed us early on.
Nope. Brad took this one from the Clarko handbook. Took Phillips out of the VFL side and played him with Draper to wear Goldi down.
It worked. Goldi came into it but it was a deliberate tactic to nullify Goldstein. * fans were worried about his impact if he went one on won with Draper.

Might have been mentioned. A moment late in the last, deep D50 which led to their last or 2nd kast goal. Lose ball scum player and lmac i think heading for it and Mckay charging in with momentum... nek minute everyone sort of paused, man giant was worried about giving away a too hard at it free, scum guy flinching and lmac giggling about goals from outside 50. scum gets posession by default and they goal.

I hope the coaches highlight it and do * whatever it takes to ensure it dont happen again. Its not cricket!

I would have had more faith in Ray Charles with that kick. And he's both blind and dead.
Ray Charles ‘clicks’ ie uses echo location like bats and dolphins. People blind from birth often get quite good at it

Z wasn’t always a ‘blind’ kick

Fancy Brad Scott twice repeating in his presser that they were significantly younger than us.
Trying to find the right word here but nothing better than prick comes to mind

Have we caved in and been playing a more simple man on man style recently?

Or has zoning finally clicked and it just appears that way?

Just watched the last qtr again and while unhappy we lost, saw both magic and predictability.

1. Magic. I chose to follow NMFC because I saw a VFL game (age giveaway!) in Adelaide when I was a kid and saw the Krakouers in action. Decision made, this was my (VFL) team, and I never changed. I still have that vision in my mind quite clearly of elite athleticism, exquisite skill and, well, magic. The final quarter was almost at that measure in a couple of instances.

2. Predictable. We've rarely won with Brad.

It’s typical Brad Scott snake oil to deflect from the fact that his young talent isn’t that particularly good.

Any idiot could see that our performance was built on the back of young players and not the older group, who if anything probably costs us the game.

Our age profile is skewed from having Goldstein, Ziebell, Hall, Shiels and Greenwood.

The below are lists of both teams 25 and unders that played yesterday.

Essendon 25 and under - 15 players (821 games / 55 game average)
Nic Martin - 33 games
Jye Caldwell - 46 games
Archie Perkins - 51 games
Jordan Ridley - 79 games
Ben Hobbs - 24 games
Matt Guelfi - 86 games
Mason Redman - 92 games
Andrew McGrath - 123 games
Sam Draper - 55 games
Jye Menzie - 13 games
Sam Durham - 38 games
Will Snelling - 56 games
Brandon Zerk-Thatcher - 40 games
Massimo D’Ambrossio - 15 games
Sam Weideman - 69 games

North 25 and under - 16 players (798 games / average 50 games)
Will Philips - 24 games
Tarryn Thomas - 58 games
Bailey Scott - 67 games
Ben McKay - 60 games
Cameron Zurhaar - 94 games
Nick Larkey - 83 games
Miller Bergman - 10 games
Callum Coleman-Jones - 23 games
Harry Sheezel - 12 games
George Wardlaw - 3 games
Phoenix Spicer - 10 games
Jaidyn Stephenson - 101 games
Griffin Logue - 75 games
Eddie Ford - 11 games
Tom Powell - 41 games
Jy Simpkin 126 games

Not sure if it is just me, but not sure that screams significantly younger Team Brad?

I think if you did the average age of the 2 sets North would also be younger.

But good old Snake Oil needs to spin something.

The ironic thing is we would have a more balanced list profile if the ****stick who made the comment actually developed any talent in that 26-30 year old range while he was at the club. Instead we are forced to play older players on the decline, which throws out our age profile.

Gutted for Ratts and the players not to get that win. Huge effort to be in that game losing Jy early and Hugh later on.
We've still got some ways to go in terms of execution, player development and replacing holes on the list in terms of talent.
Funny how last year we lost two games under 6 points I think as well against Swans and Pies. Sooner or later we'll be on the right side of those.
But some of the pieces are slowly coming together. People need to chill potting players that have played less than 10 games, especially blaming Sheez partly for a loss in two games. It takes some learning on how to ice games in that pressure environment, it will come.
It may not have guaranteed a win, we may have even drawn that game in the end.
Awesome for the young mids to be in those moment's learning how to execute with the game on the line.
TT is the class we've been missing. Has the talent to be at minimum a top 50 player in the comp, its just how badly does he want it.
JZ and Hall the only real liabilities but the cupboard is a little bare with replacements not performing or fit quite yet. Hurry up Goat!
Spicer I get the questions about him being up to AFL level but PC has to work defensively to earn that spot for mine, even if he's more talented, and Harvey and Drury aren't ready. Curtis Taylor doesn't have the pace to apply the same pressure and Ford probably is doing his role anyway.
Losing sucks but we've done the get 6-10 win seasons and not got anywhere near the elite talent to challenge for a flag across all lines.
We might have some more years of bottom six pain but if we can nail the early picks it could be the difference in how quickly this turns around.
But even those players will need many preseasons into them and 50+ games into them before we start to build a group capable, so as much as it sucks losing we still need to be patient. Getting wins at AFL level is only one part, getting wins at VFL level helps too build a winning culture in the kids.
I just don't want us to be a team in the middle of the pack thinking we're better than we are when the list isn't quite there just yet.
