Round 1:
After a disappointing Season 23 in which we took home the Wooden Spoon, the Royals unveiled a slightly revamped playing list. New recruits pantskyle, Willo_ and burningdwarf would take to the field in the purple and gold for the first time against an equally renewed Gumbies squad lead by Noobz0r, Golumless and the return of the legendary StFly.
There was excitement and trepidation in the air as a fresh beginning began. This was met with laughs aplenty as fan favourite Footypie32 entered the thread with a bang.
Helfarch gave us some words of wisdom.
OES informed us of his latest project.
Meanwhile pantskyle kept a lookout for the enemy.
Then captain Blacky posted the first team sheet of the season and mass erections were had.

After a win in round 1 the Royals were in party mode, so it was lucky they were headed to Vegas for their next game against the Bears. We were feeling confident as we had never lost to the Bears on their home ground.
Blacky set the standard high early with his clever use of puns.

We were flying. 2-0 and the fixture served us up the Demons at the Throne. The playing group were all wearing grins bigger than Prince Philip at a welcome to country ceremony. The Demons had some fun posters in their ranks, like Elton Johns Wig, RodneyDangerfield, Smartys Power and of course, Cooney. Unfortunately they also had DemonJim. But not even that could get us down.
Willo_ got caught cleaning his tool at work.

Round 4:
Round 4 saw the Royals head to Brunswick Junction Oval to take on their almost namesakes, the Roys. We went into the game knowing a win would entrench us in the top 4, and started strongly kicking 6 goals in a high scoring first term to lead by 11 at the first change. The Roys started the second term slowly again, allowing us to get out to a 24 point lead midway through the second quarter, before a late charge saw the Roys reduce the margin to just 5 points at the last break. The premiership quarter saw the Roys take the lead for the first time in the game, but it was only for a short period of time as we managed to wrestle ourselves a small lead at the final change. The last quarter started ideally for us, 4 unanswered goals allowing the boys in purple and gold to fly out to a 37 point margin, and that was enough to earn the Royals an important victory, the final margin 29 points.
Amongst the best performers for the Royals included Thatsapaddlin (28 touches, 9 marks), burningdwarf (25 touches, 6 marks), and Footypie32 (23 touches, 2 goals).

The Swamprats found their way to the Golden Throne for Round 5, with the prestigious Golden Rat on the line for the victors. The Rats found themselves in a hole to begin the season, winless and on the bottom of the ladder at this point in the season. This was not reflected at the beginning of the game however, with a high scoring first quarter going the way of the Swampies 6 goals to 4. When the Rats managed to string together the first two goals of the second quarter, through future admin and star Royals S25 recruit @Cloud’s 3rd goal, the Royals were well and truly on the ropes. 4 of the last 5 goals of the first half added some respectability to the scoreboard, however we still found ourselves 6 points in deficit at the main break. The all-important third term found a much-improved performance from the Royals, with 5 unanswered goals shifting the momentum our way, before that man Cloud_ again snuck a late one to reduce our margin to 15 points at the final break. After Cloud_ kicked his 5th 2 minutes into the last quarter to reduce the margin to 9 points, the game was in the balance, however a dominant last quarter led the Royals to their second straight victory. One point from the Rats in the last 23 minutes ultimately robbing them of any chance, with 10 scoring shots in the final term leading to a comfortable 43 point win for the Royals.

A win would have put us firmly in the top 2, while the Bombers needed a win to force themselves into the top 8. The Royals managed to start the first term strongly, jumping out to a 13-point lead midway the first quarter, before the Bombers went on a rampage kicking the next 4 goals to lead by 14 at the first break. The second term started just as the Royals hoped, with the skipper kicking the first two goals to kick-start our run. 4 more answered goals followed, allowing us a 24-point lead at the main change. A far more even third term eventuated, with the Bombers managing to level the scores before the Royals settled to kick back out to an 18-point margin at ¾ time. The last quarter was a similar affair, with the teams going goal for goal all the way until the end. This suited the Royals who carried a handy lead into the last quarter, the final margin standing at 21 points.

Round 7 saw the league leading Royals host the 4th placed Warriors on a warm day at the Golden Throne.
Brokelads betting had the Royals at clear favourites at $1.30 and they didn't disappoint.
The Royals shook off some early yips to take the first quarter lead.
Only 8 points separated the teams at the half, but a big premiership quarter from the Royals saw them kick away to extend their lead to 20 points at the final change.
Blacky was busy with a big bag of 7, but BOG on the day was Footypie32 with 31 disposals and 2 goals. pantskyle was also busy amassing a massive 10 tackles.

In Round 9 the mighty Royals hosted the latest iteration of the N.W.O. On a wet day at the Throne, the Royals reigned. As the old saying goes a champion team beats a team of plebs.
The Royals led at every change despite only kicking 1 third quarter goal.
In what turned into a bit of a violation, not all the Hawk players were resisting...
The Royals took the foot off after half time, eventually winning by 23 points. Blacky given the 5 votes for his bag of 7 (despite moving himself to the pocket in the last quarter). The mighty midfield duo of Thatsapaddlin and Footypie32 were prolific as always.

Round 10.
We had won 6 games on the trot and were sitting comfortably on top of the ladder. The Furies were just clinging on to their finals aspirations on the back of 4 losses in a row. This should have been a walk in the park. And it was. Unfortunately the park in question was full of tigers. Starving, mangy tigers, who where also really terrible at banter. The worst kind of tiger. Also akkaps.
