Suns beating Richmond with kicks after the siren in 2012 and 2022 are the most memorable games.
Hardwick defecting from Richmond to the Suns is just added spice.

I wouldn't have thought so. It's a bit of a media drum up, a bit like Demons vs WB post grand final. None of these two consider them rivals but the media went for it.

The teams would need to meet in finals for it to be a genuine rivalry.

No one cares about the results when both teams are mediocre.

Not for me. Seems the AFL is selling it but the supporters aren't buying it.

Rivalries happen naturally. You cannot manufacture it.

I'd expect some one sided games over the next few years, and that tends to dampen any rivalry.
