Gold Coast Kangaroos, does sound amazing

Epitomises alot of what Australia is all about.

It might be an easy name for people overseas to relate to as well

The name could be catchy enough to get people interested

Southport sharks sounds better.Gold Coast won't embrace the Kangaroos. 11,000 with the Lions involved is pathetic. Watch the crowds get worse in the next 2 matches. another 3,000 could have fitted in easily. If it was a Southport sharks team people on the coast would be more receptive.

How many overseas people buy memberships and attend AFL games?

Also just a question - how many people attend the Southport or QFL games?

If the Kangroos were to move I would think the North Kangroos would be perfect, allow them to keep some ties to their Melbourne heritage.

Ha!!

Why? Its the lack of "Melbourne heritage" (read Melbourne support) thats forcing them to move.

No-one is moving anywhere. Pick up an Age newspaper and see it differently, but they are quite clearly pushing an agenda.

It is such nonsense. Brisbane just won 3 flags and lost almost a million bucks (we are on track to a record an almost 7 figure profit) .The Gold Coast will never support a side that is not their own and you would lost the vast majority of North Melbourne support for a pie in the sky adventure costing the AFL tens of millions for no sure return.

The place is a cemetary for proffessional sporting clubs.

Hur hur... you said "boner".

Where does it come from then, out of interest?

Two theories. One is that a number of North player worked at the local meat works or that North arranged employment for its players there. Second was that we shared a ground with an Irish game based team of hurlers that incurred many shinbone injuries. I'll look this up when I get home tonight. Up until the early 1950s our logo was a pair of cross bones.

I hope North doesn't go anywhere. Who cares if they don't have the biggest supporter base, their supporters deserve their club intact just like anyone else.
