What a glorious win! Spoke to Touk after the game and he told me next year it’s the 1’s turn to hold up the cup. Said he was stoked with the Dimma hire.

Interesting choice of words you told him it was the afl sides turn, he just agreed with you

It was good to officially meet you robbo.

Great game. This group have a ticker when Werribee started coming, they fought it out.

Josh Drummond has won a premiership before Dew which should please Sack Dew

Do we think Brock can put on the size required to play key defender at the top level?

Has all the other attributes IMO. Rory Thompson like with his long limbs standing on the last line reading the ball, and (normally) a pretty neat left foot as well.
yes

Wasn't able to watch the game, but am so proud for the lads to get the job done.....a big moment for our Club....:)

Just checked the major websites(admittedly approaching midnight in Oz).... herald sun, afl, SEN, fox footy....................nothing, not a damn thing, except for our girls beating the Bulldogs on the AFL website and a mention on the latter pages that we prevailed in the VFL....just sayin'

feels so good for a northern states Club to win the VICTORIAN Football League, especially after the Allies won the U18 comp.......

about time the VIC media accepted the AFL/VFL is not all about Victorians....and so I'll once again tune into VFL 360 on Monday, and see if there's any improvement.....I'm not holding my breath...

Speaking of which, it's interesting to read the names and origins of the players that played for the Bears in the '91 reserves premiership that day knowing what a powerhouse they became a decade later:

B: Shaun Hart (Shepparton VIC), Simon Luhrs (Sherwood QLD), David O'Keefe (Newcomb VIC)
HB: Ben Thomas (Port Fairy VIC), Matthew Kennedy (Southport QLD), Brenton Phillips (North Adelaide SA)
C: Troy Clarke (South Cairns QLD), Brad Rowe (East Fremantle WA), Steve McLuckie (Southport QLD)
HF: David Wearne (Coorparoo QLD), Peter Curran (Canterbury VIC), David Ogg (Swan Districts WA)
F: Rod Lester-Smith (East Fremantle WA), Ray Windsor (Sherwood QLD), Peter Worsfold (South Fremantle WA)
Fol: Alex Ischenko (East Perth WA), Andrew Taylor (Albion VIC), Corey Bell (Southport QLD)
IC: Cameron O'Brien (Old Xavierians VIC), Lachlan Sim (Moe VIC), Rob Dickson (Morwell VIC), Craig Potter (Sherwood QLD),
Coach: Rodney Eade (Glenorchy TAS)
Thought it was worth doing our own version of this now that we are the premiers and our boys have etched their names into the history books forever.

B: Jake Stein (St Dominic's NSW), Caleb Graham (Palm Beach Currumbin QLD), Bodhi Uwland (Broadbeach QLD)
HB: Lloyd Johnston (Wanderers NT), Jy Farrar (Halls Creek WA), Joel Jeffrey (Wanderers NT)
C: Jeremy Sharp (East Fremantle WA), Charlie Constable (Sandringham VIC), Oskar Faulkhead (Bendigo VIC)
HF: Hewago Oea (Gordon PNG), Brodie McLaughlin (Frankston VIC), Alex Sexton (Redland QLD)
F: Mabior Chol (Aspley QLD), Sam Day (Sturt SA), Chris Burgess (West Adelaide SA)
Fol: Ned Moyle (Oakleigh VIC), Alex Davies (Broadbeach QLD), Connor Blakely (Swan Districts WA)
IC: Jared Eckersley (Broadbeach QLD), Leonardo Lombard (Broadbeach QLD), Campbell Lake (Labrador QLD), Sandy Brock (Palmerston NT), Elijah Hollands (Wodonga VIC)
Coach: Josh Drummond (Northern Eagles QLD)

You gotta love it. 9/23 (39.1%) players are Suns academy graduates from QLD/NT/PNG in the team. 8 Queenslanders, 5 Victorians, 3 Territorians, 3 West Australians, 2 South Australians, 1 New South Welshman and 1 Papua New Guinean. A Queenslander as the coach as well.

Uwland and Lombard would hate being referred to as from Broadbeach. They are Burleigh Bombers through and through.

Pretty sure they noted that Lombard was a Burleigh junior in the telecast.

They will always be named as Broadbeach players, as that is where they play / played their senior football.

Does this mean we’ve won a premiership before Fremantle and GWS?
Since we have come into the competition (that is the only fairest way to judge really), this is the club overall premiership tallies across all competitions (AFL/AFLW/State League Men/State League Women)

Adelaide - 3 AFLW
Brisbane - 1 AFLW, 4 NEAFL
Carlton
Collingwood - 1 VFLW
Essendon - 1 VFLW
Fremantle - 2 WAFL (Peel)
Geelong - 2 AFL, 1 VFL
Gold Coast - 1 VFL
GWS Giants - 1 NEAFL
Hawthorn - 3 AFL, 2 VFL (Box Hill), 1 VFLW
Melbourne - 1 AFL, 1 AFLW, 1 VFL (Casey)
Nth Melbourne -
Port Adelaide -
Richmond - 3 AFL, 1 VFL
Sydney - 1 AFL
West Coast - 1 AFL
Bulldogs - 1 AFL, 1 AFLW, 2 VFL

TOTAL VFA/VFL PREMIERSHIP TALLY
Port Melbourne - 17
Williamstown - 16
Sandringham - 10
Coburg - 8
Casey - 7
Bullants - 6
Box Hill - 5
Geelong reserves - 3
Footscray reserves - 2
Gold Coast reserves, Werribee, Richmond reserves, Frankston - 1
Southport, Frankston, Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, GWS, North Melbourne, Sydney - 0

As for next year, no AFL reserves team has ever gone back to back in the VFL so there is another piece of history we can aim to achieve. It will be tough though especially if we lose players like Chol, Hollands, Burgess, Sharp plus whoever else could be delisted who are good VFL players but can’t crack into the senior team.

I wonder how long “twos don’t lose” “goos don’t lose” has been a mantra for? It’s the first time I felt a real winners attitude outwardly projected by the Suns. Feel like it’s something the ones can tap into…

Listening to the commentary you would know about the high level of QLD players, all they kept on talking about was the Victorian talent

Yes that's correct. Trust me they don't like it though.
