Do you think it's a wise decision by GC?
What have they got to lose ?

Gain extra members
Teach the GC kids what its like to be a pro in the big time
Just his picture in the GC jumper will make the club better

The AFL will most likely pay most of the contract in marketing money anyway and Dusty wont need to do a thing
Or some Rich GC member can sell Dusty a $2 mill apartment in broad beach for $800k (kinda like buying a farm in geelong)

The gold coast Runith away trades!

20 to dogs and 70 to cats for 33 & 36 (part of Smith trade).
33, 34, 36 to Lions for 14 and 52
13 & 14 to tigers for Rioli 41, 47
6 and luko to crows for 4 and 25
25 26 & Rosas to Freo for 17 & F2
4 & 17 to north for 2, 22 and F3
22 41 & F3 to Pies for Noble 48 & F2

Suns Rioli, Noble, 2, Lombard ( 46 47 48 52) F2, F2,

AFL has cut the bonus five rookie spots given to GC in 2019.

Was obviously going to happen after GC grabbed that haul of first rounders last year for a bag of junk picks.

Giving them some pain at present, will be a few more moved on, not Bowes level of stupidity but they will push them out cheaply.

Geez another post who has no idea about Suns list. Right now Suns have 5 spots available on senior list! And 1 on cat A.

Please enlighten me on who has gone from the main list in the last week or so to create these vacancies. I was hoping for a cheap Luko
Just for you.

Suns had 37 players on the senior list.

Ellis retired. Macpherson delisted. Media reports Day and Oea not offered contracts (still no official club info, could be cheap trade?).

So, at the moment 33 on senior list.

Potentially to leave senior list - Luko, Davies (no contract), Rosas, Farrar, C Graham.

No contract senior list - Lemmens, Holman, Sexton (nobody knows for sure).

Cat A - Casboult (waiting after trade period), Uwland (must be upgraded), Clohesy.
Cat B - Johnston, Evans.

Piggybacking off this, I’d say it’s likely we lose around 3 or so from Luko, Davies, Rosas, Farrar, C Graham, Lemmens, Holman, Sexton.

Even if those first 3 all stay, could see Farrar, Graham and maybe Sexton going.

That leaves us with 30 on our main list. 3 draftees, Rioli, Noble gets us to 35 so we’d still be able to trade for or draft a few extra players easily even.

Ellis retired, and I think you mean someone else not Hollands.

Suns don't need pick 2 this year. If pick 6 doesn't go in the Rioli deal it'll be moved to next year imo.

GOLD Coast has delisted six players, led by 97-gamer Darcy Macpherson, who spent nine seasons at the club.

James Tsitas, former North Melbourne utility Jack Mahony, Sandy Brock, Oskar Faulkheadand Will Rowlands have also been informed they would not be offered a contract in 2025.

Herald Sun has a similar article:

Dustin Martin has met Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick in the post-season, intensifying speculation one of the game’s greats is set to join the Suns for the 2025 season.

Martin, 33, would become a Suns player as a free agent.

The shock development that Martin is leaning towards continuing his AFL career has grown in recent days.

Suns chief executive Mark Evans confirmed the club and Martin had been in contact.

“Dustin has reached out to the club but that’s as far as it goes at this point in time,’’ Evans said.

Martin and the Suns last spoke mid-year, and the Suns now have to determine Martin’s level of motivation.

Martin is currently on the Gold Coast and this week caught up with former Tiger teammate Brandon Ellis, who recently retired as a Suns player.

The cost for the Suns would be a list spot and Martin’s wage – estimated to be $350,000-$500,000 – and the Tigers would receive nothing.

Martin played his final game for the Tigers on August 3 and announced his retirement two days later.

It’s believed Martin has spent recent weeks weighing up whether he has the motivation to continue playing.

It’s also believed Martin has dropped several kilograms in weight in preparation for pre-season training.

The AFL would welcome the three-time Norm Smith medallist to the Suns but Martin would likely miss out on any AFL ambassador money.

Despite his national profile and popularity with kids, it’s believed the AFL would be reluctant to pay Martin a Gary Ablett-type salary to promote the game in Queensland.

An ambassadorial package would require Martin to be available to all media to help promote the game and be open to various school and promotional visits.

His refusal to speak to the AFL media for the past decade would count against Martin if he was to pursue an ambassador’s role.

Martin played 302 games for the Tigers, including the 2017, 2019-20 premierships.

He played 278 of those games under Hardwick and the Suns coach said in July that opposition clubs would have to look at Martin if he left Punt Rd.

“He’s a really, really good player, there’s no doubt about that, and every single club would be crazy if they didn’t sit there and at some stage make an assessment,” Hardwick said then.

“Like 17 other clubs, we’re always looking for good players.

“Gold Coast is no different. Those list management calls will get made at the back-end of the year.”

Interesting that Dusty is approaching us not the other way around, was told that he’s slimmed down quite a bit by a friend that saw him up here last week
Do you buy that? Surely Dimma's given him a little nudge.

I imagine the asking price for Rioli is about to get higher if Dusty intends to join.
You hold no sway over Dusty, in fact we are going to call him Coasty just for shits and giggles
