Any chance these rubbish commentators call the game? They've been yabbering on about everything else. I expected them to talk about what they were having for dinner tonight.
They had about 10 rucks in contention for All Australian. Some they didn’t even know the names of, just ‘Adelaide’s ruck is pretty good’.

Hopefully it includes arsenic :).

They're becoming a reliable bunch. You know what you're going to get now. We are still far from the complete product, but the improvement is brilliant and exciting.

Well done girls.

Not mathematically in the 8 yet, but it would require the Saints having 2 huge wins in a row and us losing next week to concede the position. Huge result to go from our first 2 seasons to finals and 5 in a row.

Ground looks incredibly open for AFLW.
It's the broadcast camera angle. With most AFLW games at community grounds, the camera are a lot lower. Kinda like how the SCG, looks really small on tele, despite the fact that it's actually quite wide.

The MCG game against the Dogs was similar. Really highlights the extra space from the two less players out there.

Could be right, but the pace of the e2e ball movement all day today was a long way above normal. It still looks a weakness of ours when it is open, but we hold up so well down back these days that changes the complexion of how much risk we can take running forward.

Go girls . Good effort again . Gold Coast had the momentum in the first but we pulled them in and basically controlled the game from then on with committed pressure and composure. Borg and brooks by were terrific in defence , Dowrick again , Lamb , Houghton . Goody and Pope on the wings were not prolific but still handy . Sholz was good although her opponent was as well , hopefully she’ll be back to her best next week .

Borg is a real gun.

She's come from nowhere to be an outstanding player this season after being average to below average the last two. But then you look at her age and she's still only 19. Seems like some of these players have been around forever (because they literally have in the context of this team's existence) but they're still green as anything.

We're 6-0 against the bottom 8 and 0-4 against the top 10. We're a mid table team who beats all the teams we should beat and loses to all the teams we should lose to. Doesn't sound great when you put it like that but it represents massive improvement from the first two seasons when we were in the conversation for worst team in the comp.

It's really strange afl.com.au has an article about the apparent change in our forward entry method in the last few weeks compared to the start of the year

And completely fails to take into account the difference in opposition between the start of the year (except the Bulldogs) and the last 5.

So we're having a Hawks style run home against the bottom sides. That doesn't mean we haven't improved, because we likely would've still lost some these games in the previous seasons. But if we ran into North at the moment, I doubt we'd see much different to the last game.

Our start to the year was brutal. But we managed not to be blown away by the top teams which happens to the lower ranked teams.

The percentages of the top teams are phenomenal.

We have improved out of sight this year. Our forward pressure is crazy and our movement of the ball up the ground has improved greatly.

Can’t wait to add Lauren Young, Cuthbertson, Indie Tahoe and a fully fit & firing Hannah Ewings to this team next year.

I'm worried about Hannah's future but Young and Tahau will be phenomenal additions and Cuthbertson more than handy.

Essendon and Richmond get HD, we get potato-cam. Do I look surprised?

Draw! Rich to play Hawks next week, only 2 points ahead of Port. Essendon playing Carlton, two points behind us.
Yeah worst case scenario from here looks like we finish 8th, best case we finish 6th.

6th looks the most likely.

It's all there in front of us. Exciting stuff.

We should know what is required by nearly the start of our game next week.

If the McCleland Trophy isn't already decided after this week, then Hawthorn will be pretty desperate for a win.

We needed Hawthorn to lose both games and we had to win both to win it.

The way they've been going, I never gave us a realistic hope - it's between them and Brisbane now, I think Brisbane need to win both their remaining games and hope Hawthorn lose next week.

Yeah, I have some concerns about Hannah Ewings' mindset. The last time I saw her play she was overweight, unfit and clearly not motivated. Hopefully she exorcises a few demons and regains her desire to play AFLW.

We currently have five AFLW players on the injury list and they are all knee injuries. I recently saw a Deakin University research paper that theorised that AFLW players are nine times more likely to suffer major knee injury than men. This is mainly due to wrong foot defending and losing balance while tackling. At first I dismissed it as feminist clap trap but looking at our injury list I am beginning to see some truth in it. Five concurrent knee injuries seems to be a lot.

Maybe the sports scientists need to come up with improved training regimes and the AFL needs to look closely at the playing schedule?

Watched bits and pieces of the game and we generally played good footy.

That first goal 50m penalty we got, that put Miller 1m from the goal line, was soft, but will take it given how many bad frees in front of oppo goals have gone against us this year. He celebration was a bit over the top given how much of an advantage she got.

The young players continue to shine. Brooksby, Goody, Window, Scholz, Borg in defence, Boag in the middle and Syme.

Rizza's niece Kirsty Lamb has been a good pick up and Abbey Dorwick had another good game, haven't seen her play a bad game this year.

What was disappointing was that like the men's side, we continue to give the oppo the chance to score a goal in the last 30 seconds of the the quarter.

Oliver for GC had a mark and set shot for goal within last 30 seconds of the 3rd quarter, she goaled, and in 4th quarter took a mark on a tight ankle with 15 seconds to go, and after shaping up to have a set shot, did a perfect 20m pass inboard to her teammate for an easier shot on goal, but the siren went when the ball was 2/3rds of the way to her teammate, who easily marked, but was denied a shot on goal.
