Cleaned up my first ever Titleist's 755 (2006)...which I cannot hit anymore. Steve Stricker still games them occasionally.

Should I keep for nostalgia or sell and how much would I get for these old girls?






My first ever set was PGF Slammers as a kid, then a set of Daiwa clubs (I working in fishing tackle and the rep got them for me...never really ever seen any around apart from those). Then Henry Griffiths (what a scam), these Titleists, then Callaway Apex 19s and now the Mizuno JPX25 hot Metals and a heap of Titleist hybrids!

Keep em. You’ll get SFA for them and they might be fun to hit at some stage in the future.

Depends if you actually want to be rid of them or not. There's a lot of good 2nd hand gear out there. Between $200-400 bucks should be enticing enough for someone to take them?

I just inherited some Callaway AI Smoke irons. Apparently they are pretty good and will probably see out my days playing.
I wanted a new bag to go with them so i bought the Callaway 2024 ORG 14 HD waterproof bag...
I was going to go with a cheaper bag but I figured a good bag was worth investing in.

I bought one of those bags a couple of months back, the White, Navy and Red one. It's very nice. Nice and light and heaps of pockets including a chill one for food and drinks.

Have formed a local Perth group to play golf with, and been getting out a lot more often now. Generally playing better and have shaved 7 shots off my best 18 hole score this afternoon.

Really struggling when I’m within a distance of 70-80m though. I just can’t slow my swing speed down enough and make good contact to hit the green. My highest wedge is a 58’ and we have worked out I hit it about 110-130 metres with a full swing.

As a short term bandaid fix, looking into a higher loft wedge. I hit someone else’s 60’ and went pin high, but just inaccurate with it, we think it was the right club.

Considering selling my 54 and 58 wedges and getting a 56 and 62. Thoughts on this approach to help those shorter approach shots? Would a 60 be better than the 62?

I don’t know anyone who hits full swing shots with those wedges. That might be part of the problem.

Also a 20m gap with a 58 is no good friend.

Get a lesson and they’ll figure it out in 30min.

You will want to compare like for like. for soimplicity. 54,58,60,62 same brands if you can. just for simplicity.

however, upon reading your post last night my immediate thought was learn to hit your current wedges differently. With a single wedge you can hit it various ways depending on ball position and club face angle. your sample size of 1 shot using someone elses 60 wedge is not an ideal indicator.

I agree with Elixuh , see a pga professional instructor and they can assist you. Gapping is important.

You tried gripping down on each of the wedges? Say by about an inch? Should give you at least two extra yardages, three if you apply it to the next club in your bag as well.

Yep - get constant mentions that I have a lot of distance with all my clubs. I am a powerlifter though, so likely have a lot more strength than your average golfer, with little to none of the ability!

I have no speed control though, everything I hit is at 90-110%. Under that and I’ll hit it on the edge of the club and it’ll just trickle 3m away 7/10 times.

I did hit the green yesterday with several shots at birdie or par, but basically 3/4 putted all of them.

Trying to get my best mate into golf and picked these up for a carton of beer, going to gift them to him. Keen to hit the range with him and see if I can get another one hooked.
