Someone said before it looks like players are over thinking it
Tbh, I reckon they are playing like they think they're better than they are, as if it's still 2017. The dinky kinks they keep messing up that I keep complaining about are a sign of complacency and arrogance. They are expecting things to happen, without making it happen.
It's the difference between thinking we-should-win-this against we-must-win-this.
It happened a few times in 2017 and last year where they'd get to a winning position, start thinking "We've got this" and then stop doing what got them into that winning position. It explains a lot of their inconsistency, and is immensely frustrating.

Sure and thats highly likely

But another view might be that as they start the kick the brain engages ''oops move it to the left flank at 45 angle degrees off the meridian'' and the body starts moving for the brain

Just a thought

Pressure on a 3 game kid to kick a goal was immense
Yes, 3-game player and young @ 23, under pressure for sure,
BUT
really good young players soak up that pressure. They embrace it and convert it to determination, and they kick those goals, eg who was the dreadlocked Catten who goaled on the run in the last quarter from the SE side? Much harder kick for goal, a game sealer, and he never looked like missing.

That's funny, and I can't tell if you're serious or not. 45 angle degrees off the meridian??? Ah ha HAAAA
Have you heard our blokes talk (which is how they think)? Mental giants they are not, and the only Crow I know who would have been capable of the thought you proposed was Nigel Smart, whose surname was apt :).

So here’s the question:

Which of our players would get a game at Collingwood Geelong or West Coast?

Based on current form but also “usual” ability/form

Sloane
Brouch
Mrouch?

Anyone else?
Milera?
Talia?
Smith?

Agree mostly, except for this:
They’ve each got neat skills and know where the goals are but they’re soft as butter
Walker, soft?
Nah mate, not soft, no way. He's slowed down which happens with post-ACL years but is still a decent mark, too.
Oppo sides have worked Lynch out, I reckon, and reduced his effectiveness.
Spot on re: JJ.

It's a key point and the real measure of our current performances. I reckon it's Sloane and Brad (just). I don't think Matt. Maybe Brodie Smith and Milera. Maybe maybe Laird.

Then you place that analysis against our current pay scale and you shake your head.

It’s a harsh reality. A system/game plan can only do so much

Yeah. In a weird way he seemed to be in too much pain for it to be an acl. Looked like a big bone on bone injury. Would not be surprised if he misses a month with bone bruising.
I injured my knee in a similar incident to seed although not as bad and I thought my main injury was a partially torn acl. The bone bruising was by far the worst and slowest part of recovery, i reckon it took 6 months to go away and I tried playing again about 12 weeks later but a knock on the knee was excruciating and limited my mobility for the rest of the game. Physio explained to me that landing on a locked knee resulted in femur and lower leg bones crunching together on impact.

Yeah agree on lynch, he just doesn't impact games like he used to. I wish we would use him on a wing and play Greenwood/fog as a 3rd tall forward.

Mentioned it in the match day thread and had another look at it in the last quarter but what is with our forwards and their inability these days to gather balls cleanly from below their knees? Honestly Lynch, Jenkins and Betts all made errors with balls below their knees that ended up with it going straight down for Geelong chances on goal, is it age? self preservation? perceived pressure? or all of the above?

Whatever it is none of them look like they want to put their head in the hole and take body contact, especially Eddie who I feel a lot of his issues nowadays are to do with trying to avoid contact when he gets near the ball

The only times he doesn't is when he's going for one of his Hanger of the Year grabs, of which he completes maybe 1 in 20. He also seems to be playing for free kicks, often giving Umpires why-not looks and gestures.
Before I'm pilloried by Eddie-lovers, I have to say that I love Eddie too, what he's brought to the Club, his dazzling ground skills and freakish goal-kicking.
I reckon a trilogy of events broke his spirit --- the GF loss, Cameron leaving, and the 2017 Collective Idiots Camp. Combine that with advancing years and oppo Coaches working him out a bit better, little wonder he's lost his mojo somewhat :sob:.

I reckon Tex anf JJ would have claims against Mason Cox and Brody Mihocek?
Talia most certainly against Jordan Roughead.

It seems to me we've been getting closer and closer to our run and carry style each round that goes by. But we're still failing at that last hurdle, even some of our better users are making bad decisions going forward.

Easy to see why our forwards aren't looking particularly useful out there.

Wonder how much of that is a team that's struggling to get into it's rhythm again after a year of so many scattered injuries to key players.
