Good, Bad, Ugly v Collingwood

Once again - it's a poorer team that does it to us.

If that was a full strength Sydney coming here and doing that then you say okay, we were poor but there's an explanation.

This is Collingwood. Last time it was Melbourne. A depleted Hawks. Before that North.

We're not talking the dynasty-era Cats FFS.

Think it’s time to rebuild now.
We’re lucky Sloane wants to go.. there’s another first rounder in this super draft.
Such a shame with the amount of talent we’ve had come through.
Think we need to start looking at when Laird and Matt Crouch start hitting 27-28 is when we will be challenging next.

At least 8 times he eased Jacobs/Jenkins under the ball at a boundary throw in, took the ball himself, and kicked it forward. Happening once is a disgrace.

Blight shredded Pittman's ear drums and publicly humiliated him for allowing that to happen one time.

I'm sure the boys will be quaking about Doc Clarke's response.

He'll send it via whatsapp while he is out at some luncheon.

far out people, I know we had a bad game, even I've been critical, but I think you can calm down on writing off the year, the future (not john butcher) and individual players ... we played this poorly three times last year and still had a pretty good season.
Next week when we win the same players bagged will be heroes.

Do I think players need to be roasted, yes I do. But there are not going to be any of the changes people want. There will be injury changes and that is all.

This is my one great criticism of Pyke. I would have dropped Atkins after the Richmond game. And tell the whole world why. If he cant handle the heat of his coaches criticism being out in the open then he needs to have a good hard look at himself. I am on record saying I think Atkins is a downhill skier and should be traded

Its not the changes after a loss that make the most noise, its the changes after a win

get what we can for Sloane and Lynch, bring in young SA boys.. you can’t wait till you fall completely off before you clean out the rubbish.. Do it now
OK, it was a bad loss, but please don't be calling Sloane "rubbish", not even tonight because:
--- we don't know if he's injured or how bad it might be, and
--- he's given us years of excellent service.

Actually, so did I. Didn't think we could play that badly in the 2nd half.

I was wrong
I thought Collingwoods manic game in the first half would create fitness isues. :(

Seedsman great? He had a crack, but also had 11 turnovers...
Think he forgot who his team mates were. Spotted up his Collingwood chums all night long.
We we're too tall, not willing to chase, slow...fumbly and pathetic. Aish in the last was free in our forward 50 for over 2 minutes before he marked and snuffed out any slim hope.
Mackay hit one foot pass all night, he tried, but bombing a high slow drop punt everytime just doesn't cut it.
Jenkins played his one and only good game for the year. No heart no chase always running away from the ball
Atkins padded his stats in the last and was his usual hospital handpass go missing can't stick a tackle.
Tex was shite for most of the game. He wins bonehead for leadership and decision making.
Grundy monstered Sauce. Whose tap work was laughable.
Sloaney might as well have not been on the ground. Same with Eddie and CEY.
Worst game I've seen since the dark days at the end if the Craig era.

Gibbs was the only shinning light.
Laird was ok but cost us dearly in the first
Talia in his 150 should punch first mark second.
Don't ever want to talk about this game again. Shite shite shite.

So what? Shouldn't have played if injured. Need to put the team first. Was hobbling after his first contest

Well that was something.

I won't bother with a GBU seeing I'd rather move on quickly from that.

Structurally - We completely ****ed up with 5 tall forwards, and the worst part is how painfully obvious that it had no chance of working. Seriously dumb coaching/selections.
Game plan - Absolutely baffling that our strategy would just be bomb it to a whole bunch of talls in the wet, especially considering outside of McGovern none are renowned contested markers (Fogarty could develop into this). Total **** up.
Midfield - Injuries to our A-grade midfielders looked like it finally caught up to us, especially with Sloane looking absolutely ****ed with that ankle complaint. I'm a bit more forgiving to Sloane being selected purely because there really isn't anything left that is match fit/very raw.
CEY showing why we should have just delisted him last year. A shame as there are tools there.
Injuries to Betts just hurts.

Just a dirty night all round.

From watching:
  1. Our fade out loss to Essendon
  2. Our awful first half against St Kilda
  3. Our abysmal entire game against Collingwood at home
I get the feeling our premiership window has eclipsed.

Even including the Richmond home game, we haven't played a lot of good footy this season. A quarter or even just half a quarter here or there. Not exactly inspiring confidence in our chances for this year.

Very few clear changes to address failings last season. A lot of deja vu and not a lot of improvement.

And yeah, we have injuries. But realistically only 2-3 best 22 players are out (both Crouches and Murphy) with Sloane maybe injured. We are playing like our squad has been decimated, when actually Collingwood was decimated tonight

I dont know what to say anymore. All i want to say is that the supporters deserve more. Time for tough decisions on players. If they had been made over the last 5 years the club would not be in this predicament. We will not make finals but we dont deserve too. Flag favourites, what a laugh by the bookies Onwards and upwards.

Condition suited Collingwood perfectly, the wet weather masked their bad skills. Your midfield was decimated by injury. I wouldn't look into this game too much. Just move on.

We missed the Crouch boys tonight. You can argue all day about their quality but they are elite wet weather players. I was worried about how our second-string midfield would handle the conditions and I was right to be. They were terrible.

I hope Atkins and Milera have enjoyed their brief AFL careers, because it's plenty clear they don't want to continue any further.

Four best players on the ground for us were Gibbs, Greenwood, Mackay, and Talia.

I imagine enough people have taken the piss out of the absurd selection of Fogarty in place of a pressure small, having seen both McGovern and Fogarty stashed in defense at various points of the game because the setup was so breathtakingly braindead.

We're also clearly playing a less than 50% fit Sloane because we have absolutely no trust at all in the alternatives, alternatives I might add we passed on the chance to grab Gibbs for 2017 in order to take.

Yeah, Matt Haas has had the job the last 2 pre-seasons but don't let the truth get in the way of a good story for all the Burton haters. Last year we had an unbelievably good run with injuries, this year it's been a disaster.

We've been really lucky with injuries for the past few years as well. Unfortunate we seem to be paying that all back with interest now.
