We got smashed mate, was always going to happen though, no idea on the exact score but they would have won by about 15 goals?

Euroa got good numbers to the ball and switched play very well, they had better structures but once agin this is expected of a GV team tackling a div 4 team. The match was played in good spirits, it was reasonably physical but nothing dirty.

I did expect them to be better though, they don't seem to have a lot of height, I played most of the day in the ruck and am not overly tall myself so was happy to see that there was no man mountain to contend with. This could be their downfall if you ask me.

Did the former Centrals, Bear and Towner, Franky Macak make a special guest appearance and show off his cat like skills, or has he hung up the flashy boots for good?

An appearance fee is now required for the Macak to attend these functions:D
We all miss the brown suede jacket, pearly white teeth and the huge guns he carries around with him just for the girls to hang off.. Seriously last l heard he was playing under Martin Pike out at powerhouse l think...

Looking forward to a great round 1 in GV footy...here are my tips:
Seymour 45pts - Shep should be better than 2010, but so will Seymour.
Mansfield 35pts - Too good at home
Euroa 2pts - This should be a close game. Toss the coin
Tatura 12pts - Tat won this game last year at home and have recruited well.
Echuca 10pts - Should be a cracker. Only picking Echuca due to home game.
Kyabram 15pts - Ditto. Ky at home under lights in front of a bumper crowd!

Tatura and Shep United - Draw. United 10.17 to Tat 12.5. Tyson Sidebottom kicked a goal after getting a 50mtr penalty into the breeze with only about 20secs to go. Umpiring was very ordinary but consistent. Both teams booed them off the ground!
Ressies tat by heaps. Thirds United by heaps.

Todays day game results:
Benalla defeated Mansfield by 23pts
Mooroopna defeated Echuca by 3pts.
Shep Swans defeated Euroa by 57pts.
Tat and United Draw.

:pjoin in the chorus, sing it one and all, join in the chorus SHEPPARTONs on the ball, good old shepparton.....(sings outa of tune) da da da

Go BEARS:thumbsu::D

Interesting results; Echuca and Seymour losing, Tat-United draw and Benalla beating Mansfield. Could be a crazy year.

Happy with the Rochy win as their team looked very young.

Lots of food for thought after this weeks results. The highlight would have to be Benalla rolling the Eagles on their own turf. With Carroll out, speaking to the Benalla brains trust they didn't give themselves much of a chance. See Al jacka best for the Saints. If he can stay on the park he will be a huge assett for the the Saints. Well done to Tim Symes. With a half decent list I reckon he will show those doubters that he can coach. Rochy without Cambell and Watson too good fore Ky. Vale was enourmous as was Brennan. Ky wont make finals. Morgan was good as were the newman boys , Ogden and Atkins. Ky haven't got enough class in the middle or enough big bodies to worry the top sides.
Fantastic result for the Bears, credit to Byers and the Shepp boys for a great win.
Who's willing to tip top 6 now???

Fair call to say ky wont make finals, i thought they played better footy than rochy for a fair part of the game but failed to put scoreboard pressure on at crucial times of the game.

Well done shep.

Also Rochy def Ky by 14pts.

As much as hurts must agree well done shepp, when we where 6 goals up at half time you would think you would go on and when easily, but we do have some injury concerns down at the den. Great to see Tat draw with United[ sj was always going to have them up early even if there kids] , Echuca , Mansfield and Kyabram all getting beat in round 1. Benalla beating mansfield at Mansfield thats a great win.

You may prove to be right but its a bit premature to right a side off after one round, especially considering the conditions that the game was played in. I think Rochy are going to be much improved on last year if they can keep that side on the park and add Watson & Campbell. There backline will be one of the best in the comp. If Seddon didn't get injured I think Ky would have one the game.
Going to be a great season with possibly all sides accept Euroa and Swans a chance to make the 6.

Watched the Benalla-Mansfield game and it was a cracker. The Saints were fitter and faster and just never stopped hassling the Eagles. Mansfield will be a top 4 side and Benalla caught them a little under done, but the young Saints played a ripper game and should of won by more. Best game I've seen for some time in any competition. Benalla isn't aiming to high this year but will cause a lot of headaches for teams that take them lightly.

Will be good to see 'Heighty' back this week.If anyone could come back so soon from a major knee reconstruction....it would be him!

Is he back in the twos this week? That's pretty amazing if true

Did he have a traditional reco or the LARS?? I know of a couple fo country players that have had the LARS done and they have been back pretty quickly. Not as quick as the AFL guys obviously but still a lot quicker than normal
