Starting to add up aren't they. By my count that is Flaherty, Free, McEwen, Mcphee, Gledhill and Wren out the door since the end of '19. Throw in Watson retired and a couple of peripherals in Hill and Montague that's 9 blokes who played senior footy in 2019.

Regardless of the amount of talent lost, the sheer numbers are concerning.
Will take sizeable recruiting to break even.
That's disappointing. A third club for a young player ?? The GV becoming a popular target of BFL clubs.

Agree mate. Hearing there might be some doubt about 2020 Canberra recruits Jordan & Lachie Harper which if true, it would leave Stroobants and Sean Williams as the only significant 'Ins' at this point. Will need a few more through the door before next season

Whatever happened to the days of building a reputation as an 18-22 year old and then putting your hand out for a reasonable sum when 23. Reassess by the year after that. Football resumes are no different to career resumes...

That is the the way a lot of young people think in there careers as well today. Expect to start on a top wage. Work for a couple of years and think they should be able to afford their first home.

$130k sounds about right although not sure what the Bendigo footy league is at? Roota, Trent?
Flaherty was coach when McEwen arrived from Leichville/Gunbower so perhaps that relationship is the key driver in the decision to follow Flaherty to Flat...? If simply about $$$ then no loss.
While the $$$ might simply not be a factor or maybe they are then, why are players leaving Rochy?
A good appointment in Stroobs or not?
From the outside it’s appearing it’s not but I could be totally wrong. A strong Rochy means the comp is going ok. I’d be worried if I was a Rochy supporter based on what’s being reported on here. That of course might not be true with what is currently coming out.
Thoughts Rochy folks?

The Rochy folk you speak of were having an adult conversation about recruiting and the unusual circumstances the footy club currently find ourselves with a year off due to Covid-19. Flaherty, Mcphee, Free, Montague and Watson were all out the door post 2019.
Yes a strong Rochy means the competition is going okay. Over the past 15 years that also means Echuca are not going so well.
Still waiting for the huge announcement that you trumpeted a few weeks back!
Think you might have mistaken my intention with the post. It was a conversation on a forum that is for all to interpret. I was asking if the appointment has been a good one based on the players mentioned apparently leaving. You are correct, Echuca haven’t been going so well. No arguments in that space over the last 10 years.
Saying that and based on your aggressive response I can safely assume it’s not going so well then I would think. Pull your head in really and don’t have discussions on a forum.
Rochy like every time aren’t immune to scrutiny or speculation . You obviously don’t accept that. The unusual situation with Covid is the same for every club...
In regards to my announcement go back and read it. I never put a time line on it, it’s based on an AFL delisting and if it happens or not. It may or may not happen but if it does then I hope he kicks 10 and has 30 possessions against Rochy. No love lost in that I can tell you.
I’ll ask again..,is Stroobs a good appointment or not?

There was no mistaking your intention but as you say speculation is a beautiful thing. Best to judge Stroobants after he has actually coached a season.
But yes you are correct in that it might be a period of time for Echuca to win more often given the size of the community and the strong culture of the club.
