I would not think it’s hard to interpret.
The easing of Community sport restrictions can continue , whilst it is likely restriction will be eased faster in communities where there have been less cases .
Pretty hard to understand information if you don’t avail yourself to it .

Unless I’ve missed something the only affect on footy from today’s announcement is that communities where there are less cases are likely to be opened sooner than others .

Goes back to a question I asked last week.A league starts and a player goes down with covid 19 and a game has to be postponed.AFL can get around it at this stage as they plan to go through to xmas if they have to.Local footy at this stage can only go through to early October. In order our priorities are:-

1 Every ones health especially our volunteers.
2 The survival of our clubs especially financially.
3 The strain it must be putting on our club presidents and committees on what decision to make for the future of our club,volunteers and of cause our players.
4 The well being of our community who are missing so much because of no sport.
5 Our players who most are keen to get out on the park again.

I think this announcement is a shock to all of us but lets give it a couple of days and see what happens.Still say as I said a long time ago in the best interest of all our senior clubs we should cancel instead of half playing and half not and make sure we get our juniors on the park in 2020.

Haven’t seen the stats or have any specialised info but it would appear from Andrews comments that people have tested positive and have refused to isolate including attending work and large family gatherings . Maybe it’s a case of tighter security on those that have a positive test . Hence why it appears anyone who tests positive is now gaining a pay out .

I agree with you on that one but how are we going to enforce that other then lock them up. Could be similar if there are crowd restrictions if we play and the clubs have to enforce it.

Is it right , you can't get a permit to go to a lower league?

Don’t believe that to be the case for the covid permit although yet to fully study TBH.

I thought July 11 was the start date?
Sports starting may not be affected at this stage, but surely todays announcements mean there will be very little chance of crowds allowed to the number clubs will need to make a season viable.
Only hope is that city and country vic get treated differently for any new restriction announcements moving forward.

With the restrictions being re-imposed in Victoria and Connor McKenna testing positive, this has to be season over for all leagues. I remained optimistic for a long time and really wanted to see footy played, but these latest developments have tipped the scales for me. Game over season 2020.

I think the bigger issue today is a AFL game being cancelled but they can play till xmas.It could happen and mostly likely will in the GVFL so a finishing date of say 2nd week in October with a fixture structured to play weekly and a finals series will not work.Call the season off please and if we play we have all the issues of half the leagues playing and the rest not.If all good in August still a great chance for club senior personal to get back together,have a few functions and add in some cases much needed funds to their clubs bank balances for season 2021.

How do you draw the conclusion that it will happen in the GVL ?
Has it even been confirmed that McKenna caught it within football ?

The Essendon v Melbourne game has been cancelled to a date to TBA.If it can happen in the AFL it can surely happen in the GVFL and would think same cancelled to a date TBA.AFL can play to xmas but GVFL can only play at this stage till 2nd week in October.The chances of this happening in the GVFL I would think are less likely with the covid 19 cases in the area but then you have guys coming from Melbourne to play footy up north.Does not matter where McKenna caught it,Essendon are not playing this weekend and at this early stage might not be next week end which means Melbourne and Carlton will not be playing either which will mean a fixture night mare.BUT only early days and lets hope for some positive news on the AFL front.
