Re: Official GVFL thread

what about paul neville he is a quality small player that could slot into anyones forward pocket and snag 35 goals a year.
And how good is Nev at moving those hands and waving those flags as he has for the ressies the last couple of weeks...Looks like he could have a career after playing....:D:D

Re: Official GVFL thread

Come on Tatsean who cares who he supports localy? You blokes arnt much chop and will be flat bang on the bottom of the ladder all year. If you had a few or a couple of quality players chances are you could be competitive for a game. Have a look at the post and argue against what he says not what he hasnt said.
No probs cellar I am under no illusions of where we are at and I accept most points of view on big footy. But even you could maybe name the best 2 players for Tat? My point I was trying to make is that nobody remembers who finished 2nd-12th after a few years, only premierships count. So in the last 15 years Tatura, Echuca, Shepparton and Seymour have won 3 flags, Kyabram, Mansfield and Rochester have won 1 flag. So if he follows one of these teams then fine have a go and I will take it on the chin, but if he barracks for the Swans, who haven't won a flag since 1970, Benalla 1973(O&M), Mooroopna 1986, United 1989 , Euroa 1990, or Tongala who relegated themselves to the Murray League, then to put it politely, look at your own backyard first!

Where from here Tatsean: seniors beaten by a total of 65goals,3 coaches in 3 years, asking members to dip into their pockets to help the club financually, have been blooding juniors for 4 years without much success, must be very dishearting for you and your supporters, maybe the club is lacking a direction from the top, how much longer can the club and players remain possitive

No one likes to see club's go thru this - but from a far far outsider with no inside knowledge my question is could a lot of this been avoided had Mr. Ryan been given the green light to coach on in 2007???

thats a distinct possibility Doona, but the people who make these decisions still hold power without any reprocussions: they hire and fire coaches with little improvement control club finances etc;maybe the wrong people are being moved on?

Rochester 15.20.110 defeated Mansfield 12.14.86
I wont be giving you much credit for beating them at Rochester Brad. The only reasonable side you have beaten so far but they do have to travel quite a way. Lets just see how well you go in the next few weeks, Echuca, Swans and Mooroopna. Im guessing you wont be going too well!!

Re: Official GVFL Thread (part 2)

Jansz leads the way as Bears run out of puff
Ashleigh Williamson
A dozen goals from Mark Jansz has helped Euroa square the ledger at two wins and two losses for the Goulburn Valley Football League season with victory against Shepparton.
Jansz was shifted from half-forward to the goalsquare after Scott Grainger left the game in the second quarter with a groin complaint and did not return for the rest of the afternoon.
The first half of football resembled that of Euroa-Shepparton clashes at Memorial Oval in years gone by, with 12 goals kicked between the sides before a behind was scored.
The first term was entertaining as both sides produced fast-flowing football, with Euroa kicking 7.2 to 6.1.
Euroa extended the margin to 16 points by the half, but it could have been more as it kicked 5.4 to 4.1 to leave the Bears in the hunt.
Jansz single-handedly blew the game apart with seven of the Magpies' nine third-quarter goals, his quick leads, exceptional hands and straight kicking too hard for the Bears to stop.
Murray Bushranger Klay Giovannini kicked two last-quarter majors as Euroa finished off a disciplined four-quarter effort to win, 27.13 (175) to 15.9 (99).
``It was a bit of a shootout in the first half and their kids came out firing well early, but I always thought we were going to wear them down,'' Euroa coach David Putamorsi said.
``Our skills were a lot better this week and we were hard and aggressive at the ball which for their young kids eventually it got to them.
``We're on the crest of the hill I reckon ... we know we can be a good side, but we just need do a little bit more.''
Jansz's second double-digit haul of the season took him to 32 goals in four games, while Clint Dudgeon provided a focal point up forward for the Bears with five goals in his 200th club game.
The way Shane Clayton racked up possessions, it seemed he had brought his own footy to the game, delivering into the forward line to Jansz with precision.
Shepparton's Marc Harrap revealed Euroa's weakness in the ruck division by dominating the contests against Damon Clarke and Leigh Fox.
Brad Ridings played his best senior game for the Bears, showing skills at ground level and in the air and dodging and weaving his way out of traffic with good pace and strength for a youngster.
Shepparton's depth will be stretched even further for next weekend's clash against Seymour with Luke Crawford (suspected broken wrist), Ben Kelly (knee) and Geremie Ganino (shoulder) all suffering injuries and Rhys O'Sullivan to return to VFL club Box Hill.

Haberman thrilled with teamwork
Teo Pellizzeri
A selfless team performance was what Seymour coach Bernie Haberman asked for and got, as his Lions defeated Tatura by 182 points on Saturday.
But the percentage-boosting win still could not take Seymour to the top of the Goulburn Valley Football League ladder as it sits on four wins and no losses behind Mooroopna.
Saad Saad fired 12 goals to lead a prolific Seymour forward line and keep pace with Euroa's Mark Jansz at the top of the goal-kicking table.
Brendan Liddell, with five goals, and Luke Stevenson with four were the other major contributors as 14 Lions found their way onto the goal-kicking list.
Despite leading by 112 points at the long break, the Seymour side produced a merciless third quarter to kick 11 goals to three.
Haberman said his team had followed his pre-match instructions of keeping heads in the game and not running up the ground for easy kicks.
``Everyone was given a role and told to stick to it,'' Haberman said.
``What pleased me is that they did.
``We were selfless and although the form suggested we would have a comfortable win I still think it was our best performance for the season.''
Saad, along with Shane Schottner and Brent Colbert, were Seymour's better players, while Andrew Crawford, Jamie Jones and Jonathan Barnett were Tatura's best.
It was not all plain sailing for Seymour as Jake Anderson left the game with a shoulder injury early on and was not risked again for the afternoon.
``I think the game was a good opportunity for young players in our side to execute a role and feel like they belong,'' Haberman said.

Bombers crash down
Gus Underwood
Mooroopna continued its hot start to the season by cooling a disappointing Kyabram on a chilly night under lights at Kyabram on Saturday.
In front of another big night footy crowd, the Cats won by 22 points, but the final scores flattered the home side, with Mooroopna wasteful at times with shots on goal.
Despite Kyabram kicking the first four goals of the game after a goal-less first 17 minutes by both sides, the Cats worked their way back into the game with simple hard-running and committed, sharing football, which exposed many chinks in the young Kyabram line-up.
``I couldn't be happier with my side, the way it came back,'' Cats coach Brad Campbell said.
``Ky look a pretty good side, so I was pleasedwith the intensity we maintained to get back into it and win like we did.''
The Bombers looked good in full flight late in the first term with Chris Atkins, Linc Withers and David Newman getting the ball out of the centre and Paul Newman performing his high-marking heroics in attack.
But despite the Bombers winning the centre clearances 12-1 in the first half, Mooroopna was level at half-time after a five-goal-to-two second term.
The writing was on the board then for the home side.
With a four-goal-to-two third term the Cats continued to dictate terms, although the Bombers were still only 14 points off the pace at the last change.
But once it got in front in the third term, Mooroopna never looked like losing.
Its on-ballers and midfielders _ led by hard-running Steve Cox, impressive mobile big man Marcus Dean, Russell Lee, Nathan Tweddle and Brad Lowe _ a sharing forward line led by Craig Wheelan and Robert Osborne and sustained pressure reduced Kyabram to a hesitant rabble at times.
Just the irrepressible Chris Atkins, Paul Newman and skipper Josh Vick and Ryan Edwards stood tall for the home side over the course of the game.
The Bombers got three goals out of former Cat Balraj Singh, but that was about all.
Mooroopna's defence, led by key men Michael Barca and Geoff Connally, got plenty of support with back pocket Dan Collyer, who was arguably the Cats' best player, Ty Parsons and Matt McDonald helping to shut down the Kyabram attack where its crumbing players were conspicuous for their absence.
Exciting aerialist Paul Newman was the only decisive Kyabram forward and he had to be moved to the midfield in the last term where he again had an impact in preventing a blow-out Cats win.
Some of the decision-making of the Kyabram players, particularly its defenders, on the day was simply unacceptable at this level and played into their rivals' hands

Premiership quarter
Shepparton Swans owned the third quarter of yesterday's Goulburn Valley Football League match against Shepparton United, and it needed to in order to come away with the points.
The six-goal-to-two period proved the difference between the two sides, the Swans running out 17.15 (117) to 13.13 (91) victors at Deakin Reserve.
United played a spirited game of football and led by two goals at quarter-time before the Swans found some rhythm midway through the second period.
Seven unanswered goals either side of half-time really proved costly for the Demons, allowing the Swans to break the game open and lead by 41 points going into the last term.
But United refused to lay down, kicking the first four goals of the last term and it could have set the game up for a thrilling finish but missed three consecutive shots on goal to let the Swans off the hook.
Swans coach Peter White was pleased his team came away with the victory, but not with the way it was achieved.
``We played one good quarter of football,'' White said.
``We've still got a bit of work to do. We were flat. I thought United was good today. Their young guys were prepared to run and work for each other, which we didn't do.''
The victory ensures the Swans (third, 3-1) keep the pressure on undefeated top sides Mooroopna and Seymour ahead of their clash against Benalla this weekend.
They are likely to go into the match without ruckman Josh Wilson (hamstring), who White said could miss a couple of weeks.
In his absence, the Swans will hope Jarrod Sutherland can continue his good form after he dominated the stoppages and was busy around the ground playing in the ruck yesterday.
He was ably assisted by Mark Baker in defence and on-ballers Nathan Bell and Mitch Keddell, who were among the Swans' best.
Full-forward Glenn Dundovic presented well all game and was rewarded with another bag of six goals, while Mathew Hebbard, Lochlan Veale and Keddell each kicked two.
For United, Joey Perkovic and Ryan Normington worked tirelessly, while Matt Forys was the best of its forwards with four goals.
The Demons (ninth, 1-3) will need to regroup quickly if they hope to topple Mooroopna at Mooroopna on Saturday.

Tall Tiger forwards too hard to topple
Teo Pellizzeri
Rochester's cleaner skills and hunger for the contest led to it inflicting Mansfield's first defeat this Goulburn Valley Football League season as the Tigers triumphed by 24 points on Saturday.
Mansfield failed to capitalise on a wasteful first-half kicking display from the Tigers and suffered under the weight of intense Rochester pressure in the 15.20 (110) to 12.15 (87) loss.
Tall forwards Elliott Bowen and Clint Whitsed gave the Tigers a formidable one-two punch that proved unbeatable by day's end, while Mansfield's Ben Fagan toiled for six goals and five behinds at the other end.
Mansfield will have its concerns for the season ahead as attack-minded midfielder James Herridge was carried from the ground with a game-ending knee injury in the second term.
Rochester coach Daniel Schmidt scored a tactical victory as his Tigers shut down Mansfield's run in the final term and boxed the Eagles into their own half on numerous occasions.
Mansfield could have pulled within five points in the dying moments had Shaun Monahan backed himself to kick for goal on the run from 45m, rather than handball straight into the hands of an opposition player.
Bowen's sixth goal of the afternoon soon after gave Rochester the points and took the Tigers to a three-wins, one-loss record, now level with Mansfield in third on the ladder.
Kahl Oliver was the main provider of Rochester's new trademark drive out of defence, while Ben Deuscher was a standout in the air and kicked two goals.
The diminutive half-forward out-leaped and out-contested several bigger Mansfield players, typical of a Rochester side given the backing of its coach.
``I've told them if they can make a contest to just go for it,'' Schmidt said.
``Kahl Oliver was another player who marked everything that came his way today.
``It felt a bit like playing ourselves with Mansfield's quick players and run, but right now we're having things fall our way

Not quiet sure where your coming from dikwad???
You might need to spell it out to me. What part of my post did not make sense??
Mansfield arnt a bad side, Rochester beat them, Mansfield have to travel a long way to Rochester.
Does travel not come into consideration when teams play each other??
Is it not an advantage for Rochester to play Mansfield at home??
The rest of you dribble dose not make sense!

I dont think Rochester are going too well. I cant see them being as good as their names would sugest. How many of their players travel long distances to play? Might be why they have the names and not the results? They have changed the coach this year, maybe its the players and not the coach? Dirty may have come to his senses and got out??

Why aren't they 'going too well.'? That comment just doesn't make sense.

From the weekend's team, 18 travel from Bendigo, Echuca or live in the Rochester district. Two come up from Melbourne, but have lived in Rochester for most of their lives. I'm not sure where Brad Collins lives, but he was from Numurkah. Bowen works in Echuca, quite a few players live in Bendigo for uni or work there, but grew up in Rochester and there are about 5 Bendigo based players.

What names are you talking about? There have been no massive recruits. The new guys like Collins, Deuscher, O'Brien and Givney are young blokes that have mostly played local, major league footy. There have been no ex-AFL players or big name players from interstate that have come to the club in the off-season.

Additionally, they are 3-1, defeating Euroa, Shepparton and Mansfield. Seymour were too good. I'm not sure what more Rochester can do?

Rochester are fourth on the ladder and Kyabram are eighth with two less wins, yet Dirty got out at the right time?

You honestly make no sense at all. Please attempt to make some sort of sense in your own mind before posting baseless, ill-informed rubbish.

Extraordinary.

Here's an interesting fact for you. If you calculate the distance it takes to travel from Mansfield to Rochy, it equals the exact same distance that it takes to travel from Rochy to Mansfield. I know, I've measured.

But somehow I don't think you'd give Rochy any sympathy if they were the travelling team that lost.

Its only early Brad and you will have as much hope in prooving me wrong as I would prooving you wrong. Its my opinion and the future will show me as being wrong or right. Good point though they have beaton Euroa (who have only beaten Tatura and Shepparton), Shepparton who have only beaten Benalla and Mansfield at home. Give it a little time and the Rochy softies will proove they are a fair way off the pace.
Lets re visit where we are at in 3 weeks time.

Thats it Cocko Dickliker. CLASSIC COMEDY GOLD.
You are the Abbott to my Costello.
I have some tent action in my pants just thinking of you..........
I just love the fact that you have gone 18 rounds with most other posters and beaten around the ring for 17.5 but you still continue on with your very limited punch drunk mindset. Who knows what you would be capable of if your brain was fully functional.
PS- I still love you big boy

Re: Official GVFL thread

That I can't imagine you giving Rochy the same consideration re: travel if they lost playing away at Mansfield.
I dont understand why so many of you pea brains spend so much time arguing against what I didnt say or what didnt happen?????
If I didnt say it or it didnt happen why argue against me????
Morons!!!!

Is this your way of hiding from the fact Im smarter and know more than you?
Does it really hurt that much that my ideas of football are better than you?
Is the little tag at the bottom of your posts an excuse for how much you dont know?

Re: Official GVFL thread

So what makes it ok for you to post your "utter drivel"?
Seems its more you dont like than agree with my posts.
It might be all right in the end you know. Rochester have the rest of the year to show that last years disappointment wont happen again!

No I totally agree with your posts. I think you are incisive.
