seymour got up by 3 points after an east burwood player, not sure of the name, missed a shot for goal on the final siren.
The lions looked a good side, with scanlon, paul colbert, brent colbert, glen garland and brendan liddell all playing well as would have been expected.
Seymour played a really young side, 2 thirds players, nick dundon & brad deed, playing, as well as ex-thirds in jason cole and jack williams lining up.
Haberman and jeff anderson both lined up in the seconds, with the latter playing his first football in 19 months after having a knee reconstruction 2 seasons ago.
All in all a good contest, in very hot conditions. East burwood have the edge on seymour of late, having beaten them by approx. 18 goals the last time the two met.
East Burwood tipped to fall from Div 1 in the EFL following a further exodus of players and many beltings last year. Surprised they pushed the Lions.

If you live in Shepparton or can get the Shepparton News, they have a football magazine coming out. I think it's around April 2nd. That will have a list of all the ins/outs.
I don't really know who they have lost, but they have picked up a few and they are feeling pretty confident about making the finals.

Was close in the first quarter and Rochy stepped it up a couple of gears in the second and third terms. Deuscher kicked 6, Aitken 5, Moon 5? to be the main goalkickers. Singh was very unimpressive for Eaglehawk, got a corkie late in the first quarter and didn't return. Looked slow and very unfit.

Bears sharpen claws in practice victory
Shepparton completed its impressive preparation for the start of the Goulburn Valley Football League season with a practice match victory against Tatura on Saturday.
Many believe the Bears and Bulldogs will be the league's big improvers this year based on their busy off-season recruiting.
Neither side was at full strength for the trial game at Deakin Reserve, but Shepparton looked good in winning by about six goals.
Shepparton dominated the first half to lead by 38 points at the main break.
Rhys O'Sullivan was easily best on ground in the first half, setting up many of the Bears' forward attacks with his dash and silky skills off half-back.
Tatura lifted its intensity as Shepparton slackened off in the third, ruckman Tim Little pushing forward to kick two goals and veteran midfielder Linc Wellington booting another.
Coach Richard Warburton put it on the Bears to lift again at the three-quarter-time break and they responded to finish off well in the last term.
Wangaratta recruit Ed Clarke was caught with the ball a couple of times in the first half, but worked into the game well in the second to be one of Shepparton's best performers.
The stocky midfielder is strong in contested situations, reads the play well to find the ball in space and delivers the ball well by foot.
Chris Cullinan and Nick Allan also had plenty of touches through the middle and Daniel McIntyre was creative in defence.
Shepparton's only minor worry was Brad Ridings, who split his chin in a head collision with Brenden Keast during the second quarter.
Ridings had his head taped and played until three-quarter-time before going to hospital for stitches.
He is likely to be right to play round one against Echuca in 12 days' time.
Bill Hicks, Jarrod Pollard and Paul Kirby played well for Tatura.

With regular core players including Morrison medallist Linc Withers, skipper Josh Vick, Zane Coventry and relentless tagger Steve Thomson missing, the Bombers ran their rivals ragged with a sharp display after a sluggish start.
Young thirds player and small livewire on-baller Liam Ogden was outstanding for the Bombers with his ball-getting ability in the clinches, while Xavier Hilton, Nathan Beck, Ryan Butler and spring-heeled ruckman Adam Lovison, another thirds player, were other youngsters prominent in the win.
Of the regulars, classy David Newman looks set for another big season, while his All-Australian brother and key forward Paul kicked several goals against a talented opponent.
After a slow start another regular senior player, Ryan Edwards, also did well in defence and on the ball late in the game.
Recruit Josh Linton put himself into calculations for a debut senior game next week with a solid effort in defence.
The Bombers have received a couple of blows on the eve of the season with big utility player Brett Morgan injuring a knee in a farm accident and Andrew Gill, who has returned after three years at VFL club Coburg, receiving multiple cheek bone fractures in the previous week's clash with Tongala, ending his season.
Morgan could miss several weeks and is devastated after injury interrupted seasons in recent years.
Tongala recruit Craig McGill, who was at a wedding, and potential senior player Dylan Smith, also missed the game for the Bombers.
