Two players that stood out against seymour, Ruckman Zane Coventry and Josh Linton where did the bombers pick these two up from?

were the bombers that good or did the lions just have an offer day.

First game, do the lions just wipe it off and restart next week or are there worries there. While they stopped the Bombers getting further ahead they didn't peg them back. Didn't seem to have anyone to lift them.

What does it say for the bombers, where is the change, new players, great young guys coming through, good preparation/pre-season or all of the above. They were super quick over the ground and really seemed to hit targets. Stood up well with the pressure, especially after a worrying first 5 minutes of the last quarter.

How many and how good are the guys still to come in for each team?

Linton from Sunshine in Western Region League, think Seymour even chased him for this year. Coventry is a local lad.

I think Ky will at least hold their position from last year. A lot will depend on how there young guys stand up over the year and how many games they can get out of Beattie who by all reports is very highly regarded. Also don't disregard Ky from one more major signing in the near future. Word is there is one on the cards.
From what I saw of Seymour on the weekend they look to dropped a little from last year. It is very hard to replace guys like Scanlon, Van Reit, O'keefe and co. Especially Scanlon he has to be worth 5 goals a game to them he is that good.

From what I saw of Seymour they have slipped, and so they should when you loose players such as Scanlon,Okeefe,Penn, Hooper, Van Reit,Clifton, T Okeefe,Inness and Reid. They looked to be playing alot of kids from the u18s and thats great to see,Ky on the other hand looked to me as if they will certainly be a finals contender and go deep into finals football in 09.

Ky looked very, very impressive but definately early days with them. Linton looked handy and Coventry definately looked an improved player (had the better of Schottner). There kids looked alot more confident and were really prepared to back themselves with there run and were also prepared to get in and do the hard stuff when required. Key position players will be there achillies heel, if Newman or Coventry go down they would be screwed!

Would agree with your assessment here, Seymour will be a force to be reckoned with come September. As for Ky, Dirty has a strong bunch of kids and he is doing a great job in developing them. The only concern is its a long season and it will be interesting to see how Edwards, Beck, OPgden and Co stand up to the rigours of full on GV footy

Good hard fought win by Rochy. Mansfield will be up there come September. Guy Campbell very impressive in his first hit out for the club. Only downside being Heath Aitken being stretchered from the ground with a suspected broken nose. Bloke has no luck!

United again? What about the big one? Rochy v Echuca. Traditional rivals and Rochy unveiling the flag.

:D Going for a more geographically friendly location this week mate.

United have won 4 of their last 5 against The cats, so it might be closer than what people think. Will be a good day over at Rochy as well. :thumbsu:

Yeah fair enough. I was hoping to catch it on the net as I can't make it.

I guess it evens out.

Yeah should be an interesting game-the defending Premiers V the young Murray Bombers.

They'll probably get a pretty good crowd too.

I think Heath Aitken will miss, and Rochy are missing a few like Sam Brennan, Ben Anderson, Scott Hann and Brodie Montague.

It's always a pretty tough game between the teams.

Not too often that your mail is wrong Brad so I won't slag you off just yet. But don't be suprised if Brennan, Anderson and Montague all play. Aitken and Hann are definate non-starters though.

How did Mansfield look against the Premiers last week, and another side in Shepparton how high will they finish in 09.

Shepparton will be ok as long as Walker and Vallender stand up. Clarke is a very solid goal kicking midfielder. They have a great draw and whilst they won by 5 goals I think that was not indicative of how close it was for the majority of the day

Mansfield looked very good early but Rochy just worked their way into the contest. Mansfields' onballers will be a handful for a number of clubs this year and I expect they will finish top 4. Both Hart's and Jaimie Sheehan all looked good and played pretty well.

Rochy had trouble winning out of the centre, but through the 2 and 3 quarters really started to restrict Mansfield's forward line and setup a lot of attack off the half back line. Guy Campbell adds some strength to the backline and Rochy are a pretty tall team this year.

Rochy looks good with a number of important players coming back into the team over the next few weeks, and will trouble a lot of teams again this year.
