Saw the game as well Jaggo. One of the better games of GV I have seen for a while. Ky were super all day, they will be inconsistent because they are so young but on there day can beat anybody. Thought Atkins game was brilliant, apparrantly had 45 posessions, his last quarter was the difference in the game at the end. Number 30 is Liam Ogden, don't be fooled by his size he is a great little player who can still play 3rds.
Agree though that Rochy are still the yard stick, they still have a few out and would hate to be the team that plays then after the bye.
Schmidt had been throwing his weight around early in the game and bit more off than he could chew in Withers.

No doubt Rochy are the team to beat but now there is another challenger in KY so thats good. Some big games after the bye and Euroa have to face up to Rochy on the rebound. Tat v Shepp, Mooroopna V Seymour and the big one Ky V Mansfield will tell us alot more about all these teams. If Seymour drop that one they could be in danger of missing finals altogether.

Whithers sure did fix up Schmidt, came off the line and went straight through him.... may have been taken off on a stretcher

Ball was cleared on the wing and Withers elbowed Schmidt in the jaw and knocked him out. Wasn't the cleanest thing in football that I have seen! Was helped off and took no further part in the game and did not coach for the rest of the day either. Not sure but believe there were words between he and Dirty after the game? Any truth to this rumour?

yes...

Sounds like a bit of fun over the weekend.

Probably not a bad loss for Rochy. A few people in the media thought they could go through the season undefeated, which would have put massive pressure on the team in the finals. We all know what happened to the last team to go through the season undefeated...

You live and die by the sword. Schmidt was attempting to dish out some similar treatment just that he couldn't manage to do it effectively. It is fairly well known that he also has plenty to say on the field. If you are prepared to dish it out than you should be prepared to cop it. What was more surprising to me was that not one Rochy bloke remonstrated with Withers. Interesting.

does anyone know who used to run the Footypedia website or why the entire site is now no longer being hosted? was a great historical resource.

Couldn't imagine the old Rochester letting something like that slide, especially if it was an elbow.....Too many young blokes running around Rushy?? ;)

Don't think so mate. The fact that it was off the ball probably meant that not many saw the incident and therefore were in no position to remonstrate. Believe that Schmidt didn't say anything about it to the boys so therefore most would have had no idea what actually happened.

Looks like 4-5 O&M boys have pulled out so hopefully we can knock them over. Are the GV flag odds available on sportsbet? can't find them:confused:

Who was the last team to go undefeated during a season?

Who was the last team to go undefeated during a season?

Kyabram in 1993. They won all 20 home and away games. Rochy beat them in the 2nd semi final by 37 points. Rochy outscored by Ky by only 3 points after quarter time, so all the damage was done in the first quarter.

The next week Ky played Shepparton in the prelim final. The game was played in boggy conditions. Ky led by 17 points at the final change, however Shepp kicked 6.1 to 0.2 in the final term to win and ultimately go on to win the flag.

From memory, the week before Rochy won a close one against Shepp after leading by about 10 goals at quarter time. The week before in the last round, same teams at the same ground, Shepp won by 80-odd points.
