Pretty good draft that

Yet Hawks came in @ 52 by giving away the kitchen sink for Wingard. How well that has worked out….

Yeah our recruiters really know what they’re doing….

Mate, have you paid attention to all the gnashing of teeth going on amongst your supporter group over a legitimate draft selection?
 
I’ll give Richmond a C grade in terms of players drafted. We’re limited by how far back our picks were, but we did alright in the circumstances.

We should’ve taken one more player in the National/Rookie Draft though IMO.

If we include the pick swaps to next year, that grade bumps up to a B grade.

Everyone filled their needs? That's the point of a draft.
If that's a criteria for "winning" a draft then the bar is really freaking low.

It is the point. Sometimes tho they draft best available player instead of need I guess. And you're right.

I think most team's draft BPA and then go need later down the order. You'd rarely find teams going Need > BPA early in the Draft.

If you're lucky to get BPA that fills a need then it's a double tick but i think that's pretty rare within the first 10 selections.

I feel more confident Dons did better with Lual and Roberts pickups than Caddy but maybe because i think Caddy has high bust potential?
That's just me though i don't think the Curnow comaprisons make sense at all...the kid could prove me totally wrong though and i look like an idiot.

They already have a guy of similar build in Langford where they aren't KPF height and weight but they aren't small either. Kind of a weird tweener build.

Still, having 2MP, Langford, Stringer and Caddy is a potent offesive unit to go with their smalls.

Clueless. That was a different recruitment regime AND that was Clarko driven. That whole "top-up on the run" was Clarko's doing. It didn't work, obviously, but he had earned the right to make that call.

Genuine question...

What are Hawthorn currently doing well? From list management to individual players. Just want to gauge how legitimate and reasonable your criticisms are.

The DTFA board is not the place to circulate rumours about specific players.

If you wish to go down that path, find a more appropriate board to engage in such discussions.

We have deleted a lot of posts yet still people persist. Next step; thread bans and infractions.

Strikes me that in the 2nd round, many clubs took some speculative and or needs first selections instead of so called best available talent still on the board (hence so many sliders)

A lot of talls also went earlier than expected, which is understandable given next year is meant to be somewhat shallow for KPP/bigs but loaded with midfield talent..

In years to come, we may look back on this draft as bit of a boom or bust crop :)
