He turned one of the best attacking teams in late 00s Saints team into a much more dour side who didn't make best use of the weapons at his disposal.

He needed to add some defensive tweaks to Grant Thomas attacking plan but went too far.



Also any coach who comes in has to be able to oversee a rebuild.

But at the same time he's coaching for his career. Will he take the high road, admit his time is over and play the kids like Tony Shaw did in 1999?

Or will he cover himself and opt to keep playing the 2018 GF side desperately clinging onto hope?

If he picks Mayne, C.Brown next week at the expense of youth, it'll become a little more obvious he's coaching not for the future but to cover his own record.

‘if our coach & club knew it was time to rebuild, then they would not have traded our first round pick in last years draft.

Yet another Ned Guy screw up I fear. Wright will have his hands full I fear. So many have underperformed in our football department.

I know what you’re saying Bucks would also be a premiership coach under those ‘rules’ not mention Bobby Rose, Tommy Hafey etc
Fact is they aren’t and neither is he. And I couldn’t stand to watch our side coached that defensively minded, it’s hard enough to watch now.

It has already bitten us on the backside big time, we were seduced into succumbing to a lumbering baby giraffe overinflated opinion on his self worth which then went a long way to the fire sale we had in the off season , never learn Collingwood, Wrighty will right the ship, he does not suffer fools gladly

All on his own? I agree he will actually bring in some hard home truths but he's got a serious mountain to climb to 'right the ship' coz right now that ship is sinking and sinking fast.

Almost all the recent premiership coaches were hired with little-to-no senior coaching experience. Clarko, Hardwick, Scott, Longmire, Bevo. The last was Mick with us, but he'd won it all before joining us, which makes it a bit different.

Obviously I'd give Clarko a red-hot crack, but Mitchell could be a good alternative.

I think the days of splashing excessive cash are gone with recent FD spending cuts. If you’re spending too much on your numero uno then you can’t put the support around them.

Hard to imagine he'd knock back a senior gig. I'm a fan of his, and recall pendles speaking highly of his tactical nous and communication when he played alongside him as a youngster. My only question mark would be I've never heard him speak much, i don't know how he'd go with the more public side of a senior job.

Personally I'm not a fan of the way clarkson has gone about the last 5 years or so. Also my concern with Wright's credentials. Both clubs have made the mistake of probably over rating their lists and failing to properly invest in the draft.

Caracalla hasn’t thrown his hat in the ring for any vacancies that I can recall so not sure he has any interest.

I'd take it one step further and not give any player a million dollar plus contract that is more than 3 years. It's too big a risk. If they walk then walk. Obviously if they are asking that sort of money then you can get some good compensation via the draft.
7 years, 7 million for a ruckman. That's insane.
I hope it doesn't but I am pretty sure it is going to bite us on the backside big time.

Clubs up the years in order to reduce the yearly amount. Its a trade off for job security. I'm skeptical about Grundy getting 1 million a year for 7 years, but if he is you can guarantee it would have been 1.2 or more a year for 3 years. Crazy stuff.

I still think we need to go and headhunt Sam Mitchell as senior coach.

It's actually why I want Hawthorn to win more games than they lose this year so Jeff keeps Clarko around and we are able to nab Mitchell.

There are plenty of good prospective coaches out there but the problem with the Pies is that is such a high profile club rookie type coaches can get over-whelmed unless they have a strong presence/profile like Lethal did. SO we probably go looking for an MM type.

Re money, no issue, Bucks is on plenty so should be no problems finding someone. Remember coaches are competitive beasts and will love the chance to turn us around. Same with players, we look on the Treloar etc deals as bad but all clubs do the same, players know this and some will move to chase better opportunity/cash and others to chase a flag.

It is going to take a few years but if we get the right people in the key positions it will turn around pretty quickly. The 2 Pies flags I have seen have both come after the club was on its knees, 1990 and 2010. We are not on our knees financially but we are in terms of being an effective footy club. Be patient, build and win multiple flags like other teams do. Sick of making up the numbers.

While we're 'rebuilding' just gotta hope and pray the other 3 don't win any more flags. Can the blose and the bombouts stay down that long? blose on the rise and will likely pass us this year, the bombouts are not gonna be down forever. tigs look likely to go a 3peat, hope like hell that don't happen.
