Unbelievable game, with an awesome result, absolute privilege to have seen it live!!!

I was truly of the believe that our best was the best in the league, and only us, if we lapsed would beat us. Really felt like the whole team clicked today without any passenger at all. Hipwood probably our lowest rated player, but played his role while clearly hampered the past month atleast.

We faced more than our share of adversity this year, and still came out premiers.

Congrats guys. Rooting for yous all the way. A massive salute to Darcy Fort what a genuine next man up mentality in your group.

Ashcroft will torment teams for years to come. Another one certainly won’t hurt!

Party hard guys

Exceptional. We played like a premiership team and we are one again now.

So many stories to take out of this win:

The youngsters in Ashcroft, Wilmot, Morris and Lohmann. All great. Lohmann stood up early and kept us in it when it was really needed. Ashcroft looks like a 200 gamer.

Berry; if he felt he needed to make up for last year, he did it today with plenty to spare. Put his body on the line. Took strong marks. Constant pressure on his opponents.

Hipwood and that goal. The aker ‘tribute’ was perfect and throughlines like that make it all the more memorable and meaningful. The tap over his head was seriously smart too.

Starcevich. I mean come on, every time Sydney managed to get it forward, he was there to snuff it out. Couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Neale just did Nealey things. How he gets so much space at stoppages makes no sense. Would’ve been a very deserving Norm Smith Medalist.

Zorko and Lester and their journeys to today. That they are both premiership players tonight is potentially the sweetest thing of all. Lester, a mistake or two early but he took some great grabs and took on some tough kicks to set us up early. Zorko was just racking it up at will.

Everyone else was great too. AhChee and his great finals series. McCluggage as silky as it gets. Andrews just unbeatable. Joe and his presence around the ground and that final goal. Dunkley always under the radar but integral in dismantling the Swans’ midfield. And all the others too.

It’s been a tough journey for so long. An enjoyable, hopeful and slightly frustrating one for the last half decade. And then today, just sheer joy.

Enjoy it everyone!

If you went to Southport Sharks and watched some bloke called Chris Fagan steadily walking up the steps at halftime against the suns and starting to get things organised many years ago. This premierships for you.
If you went to the gabba every week when there was only 8-10 thousand people and told everyone who would listen that they were on the up. This premiership is for you.
If you were at the gabba in round 22 2019 against Geelong when the energy was out of this world since forever. This premiership is for you.
If you chanted Lions after we lost to GWS in 2019 after the prelim. This is for you.
If you made the pilgrimage to watch us beat the Dees and then lose to Geelong in 2022. This one is for you.
If you watched time stop in the elimination final agaist the tigers in 2022, with Coleman starting to give us dare. This ones for you.
If you enjoyed so much the injection of youth this year, where they played footy they have never played before. This is for you.
If you will stick fat with this team now and when they need you when they ever get down. Then this is for you.
I am so proud of this team. I am so happy that Ah Chee, Lester, Zorko, got a premiership, and feel for players like Linc, Gardiner, Lyons, Stefan Martin and so many others like Walker, Mcstay, Robbo. I am blown away at what Lohmann, Wilmot, Ashcroft have added to the team, and how tough our superstars are, they are out of this world. I am so so happy for the team and Fagan and this is the best premiership any team has ever won

I'm impressed and somewhat humbled by the number of well -wishing Collingwood and Richmond supporters who have come on here.

Considering that both these clubs have more often than not been our nemeses over the past six years, I'm taking it as a mark of respect for the Lions as worthy opponents that they have taken the time to do so.:thumbsu:

Does anyone know why Will took the norm Smith off after accepting it?
I’ve noticed other players do the same thing in previous years. I think it’s a ‘team first’ gesture.

Hats off to Darcy Fort as well. I think there was a confidence in him amongst the fans, but for him to shove it up the media ‘experts’ who thought Grundy should just dominate him and set up a Swans victory was delicious.

To see him and Big O after the match was beautiful.

I definitely cried a few times near the end.

Just feels like such a journey from being young in the 90s seeing too many thumpings and not really understanding why my team was leaving, Walking away for a decade and coming back just to see our large amount of time at the bottom, Those 2016 years right as one of the worst ever teams.

All of that to this just makes it extra sweet.

So many players played amazingly. The norm could have gone so many ways and none of them would have been undeserved.

The old Fitzroy faithful and the Brisbane crowds just give suck a great atmosphere. Hugs and high fives for hours after the game.

Gonna still take a while to sink in

Well done on a fantastic win. So many likeable players at your club: Daniher, Cameron, Ah Chee, Lohmann, Bailey, Fort, Big O, Ashcroft. Fagan a fantastic coach. Good to see the win in the classic maroon strip, too. Enjoy the night.

First replay finished. Fantastic stuff.

Might give it a few hours before I watch again to space it out, in the meantime I'll put the Prelim back on.
