Lol at people thinking we're following New South Wales. We only have 8 active cases, and besides 2 days ago, we haven't had a community transmission in months

Our cases were literally, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 3, 1, 1, 0

Get the fu** out of here thinking we're going to be the next cluster

WA in more trouble than Queensland if we're talking about community transmission.

The Gabba is not run down. It was progressively and fully renovated 1993 - 2005, and is currently undertaking $35m of works. Capacity for AFL will be 42k, or 21k under current rules.

GF venue will come down to capacity rules at time of decision. If Optus is 60k and Gabba 21, it will head west. However, If QLD allows 42k, can’t see it being anywhere else.

Can't see it being anywhere other than Sydney or Perth.

Sydney has the biggest crowd capacity all while at a shitty stadium. Also has recent COVID spread which is largely under control but still a lot of uncertainty.

If not Sydney then Perth seems the obvious choice considering it's a footy state, next biggest crowd capacity, minor COVID concerns.

If things don't play out the way it seems it will then Adelaide will be the next choice and then Brisbane.

All the signs from head office are that it is pretty much a lock for the Gabba.

The question is how much Gil will be prepared to pay the WA government to host the finals series and Grand Final. Given AFL players and their entitled partners don't believe they have to do the right thing by the community, bringing 8 clubs into their state poses a massive risk of spreading coronavirus.

Opening bid $50 million?

why is Adelaide oval not an option a lot bigger capacity then the Gabba south Australia also looking pretty good covid wise

I think we will see all 18 teams move to Queensland in the next few weeks and the season will finish there so I think this is becoming less and less of a topic of conversation.

Any kind of outbreak in Queensland will just mean tighter restrictions or worst case season delays as opposed a change of States.

I dont think family are allowed in WA hubs, clubs only.

Ironic, when they moved the grand final to the Gabba and Brisbane makes the grand final, you know Victorians will complain. However, last year's grand finalist's (Richmond) had a home grand final and no one bats an eye.

It was reported in W.A that the reason W.A is not in the running is because Gil doesnt want to hurt Telstras feelings but hosting the Grand Final at a ground named after their direct competitior

Makes sense. Small minded and insecure. Just like the CEO
pfft, just call it perth stadium for the event - like Cricket Australia do
