Grand Final Blu-ray

It's approaching 2010. It would be a joke if the AFL Grand Final is not released on Blu-Ray.
While I agree with you, it is pretty clear that on many occasions the AFL is a joke. I just don't think they would see that there is enough of a market (and therefore $) to put it out on Blu-Ray.

Basically those buying it would be Geelong supporters that own a blu-ray player that haven't already purchased the DVD.

The AFL's whole digital strategy is a joke if you ask me. The DVD's don't feature anyt other footage other than the game and the extra audio options (radio calls). Why not have the grand final parade, the coaches press conference, the after match highlights, analysis, etc.

I agree that maybe a Bluray wouldn't have a market, but there should be a decent grand final DVD about the winning team.

I'd pay $100 for it.

Had the dvd on yesterday, then switched to oneHD.

The dvd quality is shithouse.

Maybe one day they will release the back catalogues of Grand Finals on blu-ray.

I'd probably buy every years one if it had all the bonus features.

Would also like all the footage that was on oneHD but didn't see as I was at the game.

Why do they film all this stuff then only show it once and not make it available to purchase?

I said the same thing in 07.
Should have Fed square, rod laver arena, family day. Interviews with costa etc.

Yeah, bloody oath! The very reason I've still got the entire telecast of last year on my IQ box.

Blu-ray would be interesting. Not released last year, but we had a poster, whose husband worked for a network or something, start a poll on weather you'd fork out for blu-ray or not?

JB Hifi were playing the DVD today on a 50" HD TV, and they may as well have been playing a copied VHS version - would have looked about the same.

It's like the same crap quality that Channel 9's Sunday Footy Show receives from the other networks when they show highlights: any fast movements just become a blur of pixels. Eww.

Would love to have a blue-ray of the GF.

Although I've already got a copy by recording the one hd broadcast I would like a hd version that's minus the ads, and that has multiple audio streams to choose from, as well as all the extras that they can cram on there - pre & post match stuff.

Oh yeah, a blue-ray victory pack would be sweet too.

The AFL has no idea about multimedia. Just take a look at the website. Even though it's a lot better than it used to be it's still more like something from five years ago.

I've got most of the prematch stuff, up until Jimmy Barnes anyway, and most of the 1HD post match stuff (which was terrific). I've been recording every other footy show as well. Seriously, it can't be that hard or expensive to bundle all this up and stick it on a blu ray.

hmmmm *ponders the wisdom of someone pointing the finger and saying 'naughty naughty!' to a fine body of men and women who honestly don't give a shit about the fact the AFL Marketing Department (or AFV or whoever they are now) might be down a few bob over a few little downloads*

.....hmmmm *ponders the legality of giving everyone free copies of the HD game & aftermatch stuff that is sitting on computer*

learnt my lesson in 2007 - I have recorded everything in HD i possible could this time around... now just need to find something to store the 100s of gigs

AFL can shove their crappy DVD up their ass....

Also thanks to ONEHD for replaying all GFs from 2001 (except 2008) this week including 2007 in HD....no more money to the afl for substandard products.

Amen to that... luckily Tb drives have become pretty cheap!

I agree that the DVD quality even on a good screen is pretty poor when the ball is moving quickly.

I'm trying to obtain a copy of the ABC 774 radio call of the GF. It's not one of the DVD multi commentary tracks. Can anyone help out?
