Was often VERY wrong. But I didn't mind that. He said what he believed to be true and I admire him for that. That is unique amongst AFL media people.

Lyon and Hutchy are such sycophants they make me sick.

Caro, well she needs to stop wearing that pilgrim outfit!

Always seemed to have a massive chip on his shoulder after his demise at St Kilda. Did not appear all that balanced at times in his comments.
Whilst I agree, there was always some substance to his perspectives. Even if you disagreed, he made you think.
No great loss.

Can't agree with this. The AFL's media cheer squad now has free reign.

It's amazing how the AFL journos are so terrified of the league administrators. Shows you what a small incestuous market it really is

In the States sports journos take pieces out of the commissioners regularly and with relish

[Although it must be said that Caro was the only journo to take a shot at Demetriou's lavish 6-8 week in season holiday, and chopped Fitzpatrick about the Sydney stadium clash]

He's made some mistakes: particularly with his blog about Neeld and Davy which was confidential information which came from a good mate and put his mate in a horrible position.

But Grant was about the only guy who was prepared to stand up to idiocy in the league

With the way footy is right now it is close to unwatchable. I can't get into a game because I am holding my breath that some slight inconsequential contact is about to stop play. It seemed that only GT was the only one to call out the ridiculousness of what had happened to a tough collision sport

I liked Thomas's fearlessness sometimes but he often went over the top and was not a great fact checker before he ran his mouth off. not a great loss to be honest.

He certainly didn't bother digging too deeply before publicly "outing" Mark Neeld as a racist.

BT said GT resigned as fallout from a skit of Good Call, Bad Call at the AFL media awards night. Any idea how it played out? BT called it 1hr b4 GT announced it on twitter.

I enjoyed having some friendly banter on twitter with him. Disagreed with a lot of what he had to say but admired his originality. Definitely a smart cookie.

Says what he thinks which is good, but unfortunately far too often let his personal opinion of clubs/individuals affect his reporting.

Did enjoy him calling the AFL administration on their stuff ups and putting Caroline in her place.

Lost a lot of respect for him one night when he was asked a reasonable question about a club (Port? Melbourne?) and he replied "Im not going to bother answering that because I don't care/give a stuff".

You were employed to discuss footy matters on a panel show, its your job to 'care' or at least feign interest and give a respectable answer.
