Test Green out for the Summer

Ummmm well ...still a slight chance green dog might play as a pure batter ....looks like he will make the choice to go in for surgery or to do rehab this weekend .....has not made it as of yet big decision for the lad this weekend

The surgery will get done its just a matter of when

So a couple of options to consider

Option one get the surgery done now miss the entire summer

Option two ..the commentators where stating during the shield coverage that Dorrf rehab was a 9-10 month process same surgery ....So he could do the surgery in jan after the Indian series ... he does rehab/rest at this stage and has a chance of playing as a pure batter during this summer's Indian series and not bowl......this is what I think he is considering along with CA and they are getting the best medical advice before making a decision

thats what I am hoping for...,but I will support greenie with any decision he will make

worst case scenario he could miss up to 10 tests with the sri lanka tour, possible WTC final and west indies tour and get himself right for the ashes next summer.

nothing really to worry about in white ball cricket or franchise stuff though.

good enough to play as an out and out batsman if fit though.

I guess the race is likely down to 4

Harris, Bancroft, Renshaw, and Konstas

Renshaw not picked the Aus A tour probably puts him behind the others, as does Whiteman

Would like to see Harris make some runs against NSW, and Konstas to make some runs against a team that isn't the Redbacks

It's a tough one

Not convinced any of the guys with previous Test experience have the quality to make it at Test level. I think Renshaw is most likely but he is also the most inconsistent and the one in the worst form. Seems a little too early for Konstas to be played in a series of this magnitude. Maybe in a series at home against a Sri Lanka or something I'd be willing to take the risk but vs India and Bumrah is a different challenge

Think it ends up being one of Bancroft or Harris. I'm not made either way, both have dominated the Shield in the past few years. If either average close to 30 you probably take it honestly

I’d pick Harris to open and give Hardie the opportunity to play as an all-rounder. It’s rough on Marsh, but if he can’t bowl anymore, I don’t think his batting is consistent enough to keep him in the side.

Harris
Khawja
Labuschange
Smith
Head
Carey
Hardie
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazelwood

12th: Boland/Marsh

IN: Bancroft, Webster
Out: Green, Marsh (if he isn't fit enough to bowl there is no point)
Disagree, Marsh's form with the bat is fine to continue at six as long as he can bowl a bit.

His last test knock was brilliant, swung a likely loss in our favour. Been counterattacking nicely AND been consistent in that number six role since his recall.

Would love to see another Tasmanian in the baggy green, so not gonna complain if the selectors move him on for Webster though...
