YesBowling and fielding is not relevant to batting.
On talent and past Shield production yes. But on production over the past couple of years is he in the top 7 batters?

They don't turn up for TestsWhat will the crowd be? Will Western Australians turn up?
It shouldn’t come down to that really. Bison and Green are competing for one spot, the opener should be a completely different discussion. Green will be back in the team very quickly, either for Bison or potentially one of the bowlers. I wouldn’t mind seeing him bat higher, but his scores need to justify that move. Out of Bangers, Harris or Renshaw I’m leaning to Renshaw due to age and his recent performance in the pm xi game. Harris and bangers are much of a muchness for me, both have flaws, both older so I worry whether they will be able to fix them.
Nooo. What will the crowd be? Will Western Australians turn up?
Even based on fielding I'm not sure Warner would be a better test fielder than Bancroft.
Warner is a great white ball fielder in that he can patrol the boundary with speed, but in terms of hands etc. Bancroft is at least the equal so his slip fielding would be as good, his bat pad work would be better. In the test format fielding is a wash between them.
If you're wanting a slipper, Bancroft would be close to the best slipper in Australia. One thing we will need after Warner is a competent first slipper and it's the other reason I'd go Renshaw.
But if he's in the team, he'll field at short legIf you're wanting a slipper, Bancroft would be close to the best slipper in Australia.
Regardless. But if he's in the team, he'll field at short leg
Renshaw has been fielding at bat pad mostly these days too.But if he's in the team, he'll field at short leg
It really is a massive asset for him in terms of selection. Especially given how much of a liability Harris is in the field.Regardless.
He's very good anywhere.

I know Renshaw used to many years ago in his first stint with Aus, but I don't think he's done it a lot recently. He's mostly been at bat pad. He wasn't in the slips when filling in with Aus his last couple of goes.Does he ever field at first slip? There’s a difference between a second or third slip and first it’s a very specialist position

Warner never fielded first slip until he did. He was out of the slips all together for a long period and it was assumed it was his fingers which have about 4 rolls of tape on each finger, but he popped up there and has done it well.
It can be trained, just like any spot.
Warners first series at first slip was an away Ashes.Last thing I’d want is a bloke who hasn’t fielded there in a big series just imagine us dropping Virat or whatever pitches are flat enough as it is. Personally I’d rather someone who has. I know Green has fielded second for WA.
Missed the toss. Did we call correctly.
Best cricket ground in the world this, not even a West Aussie.
They don't turn up for Tests
IMO, all tests except v England, v India, and maybe v Proteas, should be at the WACA. I can remember back to summers in my childhood and Tony Grieg letting me know when the fremantle doctor had arrived.
Unfortunately, our cricket stadiums are now football stadiums. Apart from the SCG, the rest of our famous cricket grounds are so sterile now.
Still managed to set the largest crowd for an Aus vs Pak test in Perth by Day 3.They don't turn up for Tests
The total crowd of 59,125 was 40 per cent higher than the previous record in Perth against Pakistan, including three single-day records.
Typical ..CA needs to find out why only victorians rock up for the Boxing Day test and not any other day on the cricketing calendarMCC expecting 130k across the first two days of the Boxing Day Test apparently

Would have been a smaller crowd at the WACA. Absolute shithole of a venue, horrible place to watch cricket. That's why the record crowd was set.Still managed to set the largest crowd for an Aus vs Pak test in Perth by Day 3.
Would have been packed if at the WACA
