Greene's One Week - Mabo, the Vibe, Justice

The enhanced vision that i saw on 360 thickens the plot is worth a look.
I maybe mistaken but I think this vision was actually shown during the game (once) as a replay. It was never repeated and all we got after that was the blurred replays. I could be wrong but it shouldn't be too hard to see if anyone watches the game again.

He gets off 100%.

This is judged as a single case not from what he has done previously. He will be playing
Normally any penalty becoems part of the player's rap sheet and will be considered when judging similar future charges. Being just the week after should make it even more so.

I tell you what hard man why don't you volunteer to have your eyes scratched and possibly be blinded?

A hard physical clash between two grown men contesting the ball is one thing.

Pinning a helpless opponent to the ground, holding his head immobile with one hand in his hair and grinding away with your fingers at his eyes is with the other hand the act of a dog and a coward.

The fact that you see no difference between the two is a commentary on YOU - not the game.

30 years ago the opposing team - and probably some of his team mates - would have been waiting in the car park to give him the thrashing of his life.

Don't bother replying because I wont.
Boom 💥
The AFL themselves have found themselves under pressure now jonbe54. Parents contacting the AFL all last week about their concerns from the Greene incident with Bont. Not a great look for the AFL’s ‘inclusive’ kids/women drive to increase the profile of the sport.
And now a week later, he does it again? Maybe this week the AFL taps the tribunal on the shoulder and says give him a week, save face, send the right message to Mums and Dads so they keep putting their sons and daughters into AFL footy.
I agree, he’s a filthy player.

He rakes his hand across Neale's face and certainly ends up in and around the eyes.

Knuckles then bend after gouging motion. Why do people not think this is serious?!

I think some people are sticking up for Greene as they may be struggling to make out the footage. The two picks you provide, once you can see Neales nose and mouth, clearly show Greene's fingers clawing at his eye region and he should cop a month at least for it but I just can't see the AFL suspending him as it's GWS if he was a pie he'd be gone

The AFL has placed itself in a cleft stick. Its desperation for GWS to succeed resulted in the disgraceful Bontompelli decision, and now we have a repeat of the offense. One can be assured that the tribunal has its instructions, but what message will the overturn of the suspension give about the conduct this sport accepts on the field. 12 week suspensions for off field misdemeanours and zero weeks for eye gouging attempts does not sit well with me. Like cricket, AFL football is in the hands of corrupt people beholden to the gambling industry.

the other thing is they are always concerned about the look of the game. What kind of look is it when a player spitefully attacks a helpless player by pulling hair and clawing at face, and then gets off with a fine? Wouldn't even be allowed in MMA and other extreme fighting sports.
Very bad for AFL image if they don't enforce this suspension.

this is the act of a thug in a vicious gang, cowardly attacking someone while the gang holds them down helpless.

The AFL have extreme tunnel vision when it comes to the expansion clubs - anything that will hurt their chances of getting - not winning - a flag MUST be eliminated if humanly possible.

This farce started in round 22 when they let Bont of with a fine 15 mins before the medical report was released for Haynes. They didn't want a potential Brownlow fav suspended. In the Elimination Final you could see GWS were exacting revenge and they could hardly suspend Greene for a lesser injury on Bont, when they had caused the issue in the first place. The biggest loser in this was the Lions, GWS's aggression paid off and they repeated that game style. The over umpiring was consistent to try and get the game under control. Somehow many think this week can be defended purely on the basis it wasn't as bad as last week. Greene keeps doing this because the AFL keep letting him off with paltry fines. When someone is eventually badly injured the blood will be on their hands. Whether he plays or not will be decided tonight and once again set the tone of the game. I am confident we won't buy into it and play the ball, I just hope one of our guys doesn't end up suspended in the fallout. He is an ugly human being in how he goes about it and those defending him should be ashamed of themselves.

Interesting the Michael Christian referred last weeks incident direct to the tribunal, clearly because he didn’t have enough to go on based on video evidence alone.

Yet a week later based in similar footage He decided not to refer to the tribunal but apply a ban instead. So Greene had to challenge.

Maybe he’s sending a message to the tribunal that they stuffed up last week?

Chrisso said that the Bont thing was sent to tribunal because there were multiple incidents involved that added up to "SERIOUS misconduct" which automatically gets referred along.

This week it was deemed as one incident of misconduct.

I cannot understand how some in the media industry think that Greene may have done this accidentally, saying that the tribunal has to decide if it was a deliberate action, ffs the grub looked around to see if the umpire was watching then ran his fingers around the face and eyes of Neale .
This is becoming a joke.

There is one clear shot of the fingers grazing Neals eyes. Last week was a guess game due to all the arms and legs. This week is clear cut. Even the journos are accepting this weeks footage is more conclusive after the AFL released the zoomed in new angle
