Greene's One Week - Mabo, the Vibe, Justice

I cannot understand how some in the media industry think that Greene may have done this accidentally, saying that the tribunal has to decide if it was a deliberate action, ffs the grub looked around to see if the umpire was watching then ran his fingers around the face and eyes of Neale .
This is becoming a joke.
Could he have been looking at the umpire for a different reason? Like lots of players do? Like for a holding the ball decision?

Yeah it was only the idiot Cornes.

If it WAS accidental Greene should be deregistered immediately for occupational health and safety reasons as clearly he’s too clumsy and awkward to play the game and will accidentally kill somebody if he’s allowed to continue!!!!!

All you conspiracy theorists out there do realise that the Tribunal is not part of the "AFL". It is made up of independent members, not employees.

It was said that the Bont incident was not investigated by the Tribunal to the extent it might've been because AFL Counsel did not press for a suspension.

Yep, but that's the AFL counsel and you could definitely say he is not independent, but I'm talking the Tribunal members.

I’ve posted my opinions on the Greene and Hawkins incidents and the tribunal decisions and don’t have anything to add.
However I’ve also been pondering the role that clubs and the players association could play in stamping this type of behaviour out of our game.
Clubs are fine with imposing sanctions on players for off-field indiscretions or turning up late for training but virtually silent when it comes to this type of on-field behaviour.
Watching the GWS players having to defend their team mate has been difficult viewing. I think the club should have instructed them to make no comment. Where’s the CEO or Head of Football. The player’s comments are asking us to accept that he’s a good bloke who’s just made 18 mistakes. The club should accept some responsibility for his recurring indiscretions.
With a case such as Hawkin’s imagine if Geelong refused to appeal the suspension and said “we as a club will not condone such actions and have made it clear to our players”.
I’m probably too idealistic but I’d like this behaviour removed from our game as far as possible.
I’d love the Clubs to come out together and say it’s just unacceptable. Constantly making excuses for players and defending the indefensible doesn’t help.
Rant over.

When you see the zoomed in footage Greene clearly uses his fingers in a raking action over the eye area of Neale.

Moments later Neale is seen clutching at his face seemingly in pain.

I'll be staggered if he gets off.

Oh and to those ex-footballers in the media who keep carping on that what happened last week should be treated separately to this incident I call bullshit.

Get found guilty in a court of law on a charge that carries a potential term of imprisonment the Magistrate may well be lenient and hand down a non custodial sentence if you are a first time offender . Get found guilty again however on the same or similar charge and you can be damn sure your prior history will be taken into account.

This farce started in round 22 when they let Bont of with a fine 15 mins before the medical report was released for Haynes. They didn't want a potential Brownlow fav suspended. In the Elimination Final you could see GWS were exacting revenge and they could hardly suspend Greene for a lesser injury on Bont, when they had caused the issue in the first place. The biggest loser in this was the Lions, GWS's aggression paid off and they repeated that game style. The over umpiring was consistent to try and get the game under control. Somehow many think this week can be defended purely on the basis it wasn't as bad as last week. Greene keeps doing this because the AFL keep letting him off with paltry fines. When someone is eventually badly injured the blood will be on their hands. Whether he plays or not will be decided tonight and once again set the tone of the game. I am confident we won't buy into it and play the ball, I just hope one of our guys doesn't end up suspended in the fallout. He is an ugly human being in how he goes about it and those defending him should be ashamed of themselves.
Those that defend that piece of shite have zero credibility or taste.

They are referring to the question of guilty/not guilty rather than sentence.

If it wasn't a prelim final and just a h@A game I'm sure the Giants purported fury that's been displayed would have been directed at Greene and not the AFL Tribunal system. Although privately I'm sure they are seething at Greene's actions.

He rakes his hand across Neale's face and certainly ends up in and around the eyes.

Knuckles then bend after gouging motion. Why do people not think this is serious?!

Maybe I am living up to my name but I actually thought his right arm was the suss one.... It doesn't go for the eye so much but rubs over the whole face. either way it is entirely obvious he jumped into that pack and reached through with both arms for one sole purpose: a cheap shot. Playing the ball and putting your body on the line takes courage. Greene's action are that of a cheat. I'd rather play netball than cheatball.

True Trollcrusher (great name by the way).
The seemingly different standards applied around finals time is another thing that perplexes supporters.
I feel for Greene’s team mates in a way and think the club should take a stand for them also.
I’m trying to address the actions not the individuals involved and think the club could do the same while supporting their player to change which is none of my business.
Acknowledging the actions seems to me the easiest part and the better approach for all.

I think what they are talking about is the current MRO process is based upon not to take previous incidents into account. No prior incidents nor similar indiscretions can be used in the case now.

The old system had a points accumulation where previous offences had an impact.
