OP has the whole game day fashion arse backwards.

You go to watch your team, wear just a scarf maybe, or a footy jumper plus scarf plus beanie plus face-paint. Doesn't matter.

It's the next game that you go to. If Melbourne won the last game I went to, I need to exactly replicate every item of clothing worn previously, use the same transport to get to the MCG and eat the same number of pies during the exact same quarters.

Anytime Melbourne loses, every item of clothing goes directly into the wood fired stove and I have to work out a fresh new look.

For me, I get through most of the demon shop in a single season - but on the flip side my house is pretty warm.

If I go as a neutral I go nude.

I've worn my jumper to games but always wear a t-shirt underneath.

If the OP has issues with the wearing of a jumper at games by a grown man, then they don't want to watch the NFL. Grown man in the crowd of the 49's v Cardinals game today.

At the 2006 GF - love seeing a rare VFL woolie in the crowd.

There was a Lions game at the Gabba over 10 years ago with a bloke wearing a VFL Bears woolie and a cowboy hat and was cheering in a similar manner like this bloke here, got on camera during the 4th... wish I had the pic to share.

Only time I've ever worn a North Guernsey out is when we had a footy day at School. Never to the footy. But I've got no problem with people who do. I really don't see the issue.
