Guerra's hit on Dal Santo

Its weird tho...terrible one-sided game....but had 1 minute of the best "footy" i could ask for.

Dont know about you lot...but the footy animal in me luvs that sort of hard hit...luv watching a bit of a dust up....and i luv to see that sort of courage and class in action....the perfect pass to his forward before the hit.

LET HIM OFF....at the very least they'll be able to use the footage in highlight reels for how great our game is....hard and tough mixed with skill and courage.

I reckon they'll appeal it and he'll get off.

ffs this is pathetic. WTF are the AFL trying to do? They are ruining the game so badly.

It is so badly run now, nobody knows what the rules are! There was no high contact, and very very marginally late, which in my opinion should be allowed. You are allowed to bump someone within 5m of the ball, and the ball was still within 5m of him when the bump occured. So this should be fine.

The raising the feet of the ground argument. I don't see where it's relevant. If i were to jump off the ground and hip and shoulder Sandilands, i still wouldn't make high contact. It should be on a case by case basis, whereby even if i jump and do not make high contact, i should be ok.

If i make high contact, fine, suspend me.

Absolute shambles at the AFL HQ's atm, someone needs to sort things out for good. The AFL clubs need to take a stand.

Unfortunately, any club that takes a stand will get a massive fine. ANy player or coach that even mentions something will get a fine. A very recently retired player needs to make a big statement.

That is how they keep everyone in line! I know the coaches meet once a year and so do the club presidents. They really need to start taking a stand. The AFL commission are meant to serve the clubs and the game not control and silence the clubs at all cost.

Clearly does not deserve two weeks. However Guerra got three for a fair hit on Ling in the 2004 Wizzy Cup after the media went ape s.hite over it.

Funny how the AFL want to keep the kiddies going to soccer by taking the bump out of footy. Thats right boys and girls, go play soccer and learn how to cheat your way to success by falling over.

Very good post!!!! The AFL has become a rabble in the hands of AD. Bring back Ross Oakley!!!!!!

Technically you cant run without raising your feet off the ground so you can only bump someone whilst walking these days......

Very good point you make about leaving the ground whilst making a bump. It should definitely only be taken into consideration if the hit is to the head.

Demetriou is actually a soccer fan sent here by FIFA to destroy our game and make soccer Australias number 1 sport.

Please, i'm begging everyone to even try and come up with a more logical explanation than that.

Could it be true? Is netball becoming a tougher sport than AFL?:(

I was at the NSW State Junior Netball champs over the last 3 days. Saw more hip & shoulders and players hitting the floor than in most games of footy these days (and they are falling onto concrete), and plenty of blood spilt.

But the girls bounced up, dusted off and got on with it.

They've gone past soccer and have footy in their sights

Recruit those girls into AFL, providing they don`t think its a bit soft nowadays...
And while we`re at it:
a) body cushions to become part of AFL uniform
b) speed humps between the flanks to prevent airborne collisions
c) 'nerf' goal and behind posts
d) a naughty corner for anyone who isn`t respectful of the community playground (formerly known as footy oval)

Seriously, I`ve had it. Leigh Matthews for next tribunal head!!!

Yes it does. It was high, late and unnessessary. Have a look at the rules. He left the ground. That is a no-no . It's called a charge.

And it was fantastic. This game that used to be the people's game needs more of it. Dal Santo showed courage and strength by getting back up, good on him. This is what we need.

Your joking.

Absolutely pathetic.

If anyone sets up a rebel AFL league that incorporates the physicality that was once a feature of our game, let me know because I would much rather watch that. Demetriou should not be allowed to ruin the game like this. It's bloody criminal.

I like the rebel league idea.

Hey...nice shot....thats gotta be the mysterious fist that went missing on gameday.

Nahhh...no suspension for that....Guerra got what he deserved.

It got sorted out on the field....probably should have been left at that.

Ablett on Dipper in the '89 grand final was a charge. And his feet never left the ground.

Intentional, Behind play, High, Medium impact

Striking

Guilty

3 weeks.

BTW....who is the squibb hanging off hudghton whilst he decks guerra ?

Seems like he's a bit "excited" by it all.

Bit of a worry.
