Collingwood relevant outside the first round:
Liam McBean (38), Sam Siggins (38), Spencer White (38), Dayle Garlett (38), Darcy Fort (38), Andrew Boston (38/80), Matthew Dick (38, 80), Emmanuel Irra (80), Daniel Currie (80/rookie), Sam Dwyer (rookie), James Stewart (rookie F/S possible).

It could very well turn out at 38/80 or with one of our rookie selections Hine takes one I’m not expecting (as there is never any possible way to really know who Hine is looking at) but this is probably about as close a preview into the Collingwood draft selections as you’ll find based on those linked to the Pies.

Also will throw in the last edition of my power rankings just as a general interest thing as a little bit extra on where I rate players in the draft based on my evaluations:

Power rankings 2012 (This represents where I rate players in this draft rather than where I expect them to land):
------------------Potential A-Graders--------------------
(Don’t be surprised if O’Meara and Whitfield don’t all things said and done develop into the best of this group. This top region is much more even than advertised and I see very little separating this group. Crouch, Wines and Stringer to have the most immediate impact. Very strong top end quality relative to normal)
1. Joe Daniher (Ess – F/S)
2. Jaeger O’Meara (GC – 17 Y/O)
3. Lachlan Whitfield
4. Brad Crouch (Adel – 17 Y/O)
5. Jimmy Toumpas
6. Jackson Macrae
7. Jack Viney (Melb – F/S)
8. Oliver Wines
9. Brodie Grundy
10. Jake Stringer
------------------Potentially high level AFL players--------------------
(Again this next group are all pretty evenly rated in my mind and like with that top 10 quality group little separates the top from the bottom here. These prospects all have a strong chance to go on to have success but not willing to guarantee anything with this group and it could work out any number of ways with this group)
11. Jonothan O’Rourke
12. Troy Menzel
13. Nick Vlastuin
14. Tom Clurey
15. Nathan Hrovat
16. Lachlan Plowman
17. Dayle Garlett
18. Ben Kennedy
19. Jesse Lonergan
20. Josh Simpson
21. Taylor Garner
22. Sam Mayes
23. Tim Membrey
24. Nathan Wright
25. Jed Anderson (Hawthorn – via GWS zone)
----------------Best of the rest-----------------
(From here no guarantees with any of these prospects in my mind and I could name 150 from here I rate evenly. Not a draft you want too many second and third round selections but some real opportunity in the rookie draft)
26. Kristian Jaksch
27. Aidan Corr
28. Tom Lee (St Kilda – via GWS)
29. Mason Wood
30. Kamdyn McIntosh
31. Tim O’Brien
32. Jason Pongracic
33. Matthew McDonough
34. Lachie Hunter (WBD - F/S)
35. Harley Montgomery
36. Anthony Tipungwuti
37. James Stewart (Coll – F/S – elected not to take)
38. Tom Langdon
39. Jackson Ramsay
40. Louis Herbert
41. Brad Hartman
42. Mason Shaw
43. Spencer White
44. Jacob Ballard
45. Cameron Banfield
46. Zac Williams
47. Dean Kent
48. Sam Heavyside
49. Nathan Stark
50. Darcy Fort

As I see Knightmare rightfully updated, Dogs have apparently ruled out drafting Menzel as expected. They'll head for Stringer instead. Wines looks potential to drop, be interesting if he dropped to Tigers to give us a chance of Vlastuin dropping but hard to see Port passing him up. In saying that, Mayes is a South Australian and they'll favour him. Depends how highly they rate Wines.

Grundy is an exciting addition and makes us instant draft day winners! The guy is a top 5 quality prospect and it's a joke he fell as far as he did. Despite the rumours I had no expectation that we would be able to add him. Now with Grundy added there is no further need to add more ruck help. Our future ruck division is set with Grundy, Witts and Gault plenty, with Grundy the best of the lot by a fair stretch and really that class above - very much good enough to play round 1 and not a player I would be afraid to play if Jolly went down for the season with injury.

Kennedy is also not a bad get. Really immediate player and can play next year no problem. Adds the real pace and explosiveness we are looking for. Has a big kick on him for a little guy.

Broomhead and Ramsay were both surprises and looking back over Hine's selections over the years you can never be surprised that he has a couple I don't think any had really guessed.

I'm very surprised after the strong links suggesting O'Brien to Collingwood that we passed on him, it sounded like we were hoping for Spencer White in the 2nd round but with that not happening added a really underrated need filler in Ramsay.

Ramsay has missed much of this year with injury and missed the u18 champs because of it but his early season WA colts form was very impressive! Has some nice pace, won't hurt you with his skills but he finds the ball and can add rebound so not a bad fit.

On Broomhead might not have been my selection early but he wasn't exactly a long way out of his range and is a really versatile type who can play wherever you need him to - personally hoping he starts down back. Has a nicely rounded game, can play inside or outside. Light framed for now so will start out as an outside with his good skill set but can win his own ball.

Curious sidenote: Before tonight the only South Australian on the list was Didak. Interesting to see x3 1st rounders from SA which goes against our typical recruiting habits.

Do you think there was a chance we would have been able to pick up Broomhead with pick 38?

Was linked to GWS and Port Adelaide in the late 20s. Wouldn't have got past 30 from all reports so we always had to take him at 20 if we wanted him.

Broomhead looks like a very one touch player and a tad like sidebottom with a bit more speed.. Is that an ok comparison? What is his running capacity like?

Ramsay looks very quick and has neat skills.

Both look a couple of years away size wise.

Sidebottom is not a bad comparison for Broomhead. Few have that same elite running of Sidebottom and tackling also not up to that same level as Sidebottom who really accumulates such a quantity of tackles each game but Broomhead has a similar type game where he has some versatility. Can play some outside/inside, use it very well and finds a reasonable amount of it. Running above average without being elite both in a pace and endurance sense.

It's curious in the Collingwood FC bios that the club mention Broomhead more of a fwd/mid and Ramsay a versatile type. The club have got the positions/roles right but personally really hoping both can develop into defenders, or at least play down back at VFL level for next year, with Ramsay in particular without a doubt best suited off a back flank with his run and carry game and would argue similar for Broomhead with his neat footskills but then a good enough 1v1 game to compete well down back.
