Round 4...
Saw the greatest qootball team ever assembled take on the Baghdad Bombers. After a shaky start, the thread settled nicely and match day was a pretty enjoyable affair... other than the losing part. Three on the trot. Here we go again.

You see, as the team that spurns action in this place, everything has a plan and those plans have more plans, then they get lost and you really need to work up the effort to either recall them or find those plans of the other plans to do something about it. Vicious cycle it is.
See this B&F for example, plans were made, there were plans to engage those plans, yet here Baz is half arsing it like a boss, because at such times; well, booties can be nice to look at, so why not? Effort man, it was made.

krisholio14 laced up the boots 229 times for the Gumbies, captained the club in season 9, was a premiership player in season 16 and is recognised for his contributions to the club via the best Gumbies rookie each season. This season we had two rookies with Grimesy87 joining courtesy of the @DingsterQooty Factory and wherearemykeys stumbling through the sign up thread and being reeled in by Rodders' benching in the season 30 preliminary final. Both were solid contributors in the first season but there can only be one winner.
Our winner played all 19 games this season starting at full back, moving to a half forward flank for a few games an finally settling in the middle of the ground. An average of 17 disposals, five marks and 61 Dream Team points each week was a solid return. This was complemented with appearances in 13 match threads although he was certainly more active within the group behind the scenes.
Congratulations to this season's krisholio Rising Star winner...

Round 5 kicked off our first of two games against the Wazzas. We were in full swing this match thread but we were in a right mess on the field. We were 1 and 3 with a 3 game losing streak and it was looking quite ominous for the rest of the season. The scene was set for an epic game in the rain at Van Cortlandt Park! Could we snap our losing streak or would we fade off into obscurity??
The first quarter saw an even contest with yours truly subbed off in the first 4 minutes of the game. Was this the turning point as we answered a goal from the Wazzas with a goal of our own 2 mins later by Rodney Dangerfield. The whole quarter was a bit of a tug of war with no team gaining ascendancy until a wherearemykeys goal in the last minute of the quarter put us up by 7. If it had gone on for a little longer we may have just scored.
The second quarter we let the Wazzas in with 2 quick goals in succession before we hit back with our own through Barrybran. Yours truly was subbed back on half way through the quarter and we immediately went on the attack and scored. I may or may not have been blasted by the coach for being lazy on defense. Just like the first, this quarter was an arm wrestle too with the lead changing a few times before we steadied the ship. We finished the second quarter like the last but only up by 8.
It looks like the coaches' spray at half-time motivated us as we came out all guns blazing with 3 goals in the first 4 minutes! Was this it?? Did we manage to finally find some form after our disatrous start to the season?? Whilst the Wazzas were spraying the qooty down one end, we were kicking with pinpoint accuracy down the other. Goals to Brick Loosener, Grimesy87 and I stunned the home crowd with 3 goals in as many minutes and it sure looked like we were home. It was fast approaching junk time. Wazzas sprayed some more points before we kicked further ahead to be in front by 42 at the last break.
We must have disturbed the Wazzas in that first half as they just couldn't find a goal until the 6 minute mark but it was too little, too late. Wazzas won the quarter but they lost the match and we had finally broken our losing streak. Onwards and upwards Gumbies!
Gumbies by lots (34) and we handed the Wazzas their first loss for the season
Qootiers of note: Due to the rain, all performances were down but bone2468, Grimesy87 and Barrybran managed to not embarrass themselves in the shockingly wet conditions.

The 100 Club was introduced in season 19 during the Geelong Wolves days by then captain, A Bit High. This season we welcome the 17th member of the 100 Club, Jivlain. Jiv started with the Gumbies in season 26, winning the krisholio Rising Star and Ninty2Winty Golden Boot in his debut season. He backed up with another Ninty2Winty Golden Boot in in season 27 and won the StFly Medal in season 28. While Sweet FA is not Jiv's main board, he has poked his head into 97 of a possible 108 match threads, which is quite the feat considering the Gumbies posted as little as 50 times a week at the back end of season 27.
