Gumbleton v Carey-
Thorp v J.Brown-
Hansen v A.Goodes-
Gibbs v S.West-

How do you think these compare at a very young age- i can see alot of carey, brown, goodes, west in these boys.

I'd day Thorp is more like Pavlich. He is as much a midfielder as he is a key forward. His great strength his his ability to hit the ground running, play-on and shoot out the footy. He could easily get caught in that no-mans land between being a ruck-rover and a CHF that quite a few have over the years which may make some clubs cautious.

Gibbs is that Buckley, N.Stevens, Cousins type. He isn't super-quick and doesn't really win the hard footy in packs. His strength is picking up the ball off the edges of stoppages, running intellegently and kicking well. Would have thought West was a bad comparison in that West wins first-footy a lot and used to be quite so-so by foot.

Goodes is more athletic and dynamic than Hansen. Hard to think of a Hansen comparison off the top of my head. He is a little bit like a young Chris Grant to me. Better across half-back reading the play and rebounding than at CHF. Tall enough to pinch hit in the ruck and could even play midfield while he was young and developing.

I'd compare Gumbelton to Luke Darcy. Very athletic and mobile for a guy his size who will develop into a ruck/forward who can take contested marks but still get around and get the footy.

agree with the pavlich and thorp, alikes...
maybe hansen is a bit like cam mooney in a way that he can go forward or back, presents and can take a strrong mark...

wouldn't it be nice to see gumblton and hansen match up in the future...

Weaver .... If Carlton do end up getting #1 pick and you were selecting for them, who would you take and why?

Gibbs safest pick. A midfielder like him is always going to play 150+ games. Midfield is the most important area of the field. Even if he doesn't turn out to be a star he will still be a handy flanker.

I agree with this. You can be a good, or at least decent team with a rubbish forward line (West Coast), but you'll invariably fail to make the finals with a rubbish midfield. Although the talent for talls is there this year, you'd hate to take the risk of picking another Polak when there's a certifyed 150+ game player there to be taken.

Thorp - Matthew Pavlich
Gibbs - James Hird
Hansen - Chris Grant
Gumbleton - Koschitzki(sp?)

Yeah Gumby is abit like Koszi but probaly a better mark. If you can believe that!! Hansen is a more defensive version of Grant, in that hes better suited to CHB where-as grant is to CHF. Cant disagree with the others.

Who-ever picks up Gumby, FFS dont play him in the ruck at any costs. Although Koszi is an exceptional ruckman, the kid gets banged up too much and is a risk not worth taking. Anyone looking at Goodes right now??

Just Ridiculous,
Wayne Carey is the greatest player to play the game and your comparing him to a boy!!
A 18 year old boy!
When carey was 18 he was a freak!
