Maybe if GWS were happy to trade down, could it be along the lines of 2 for 4 and a swap of 2022 1st rounders with the crows which may then upgrade your 2022 1st to a top 5 pick and probably still land you the player you want this year (assuming it is not Callaghan)
Yeah I could see that happening. I reckon Hawks fans might be upset though

If Gibcus fell to Essendon's pick 13 on draft night, would GWS fans take this deal.

GWS in: Pick 13, ESS Future Second Rounder.
GWS out: Pick 15, GWS Future First Rounder.
Ess in: Pick 15, GWS Future First Rounder.
Ess out: Pick 13, ESS Future Second Rounder.

I don't think this is a too unreasonable trade, GWS obviously are considering Gibcus at their pick 2 but will probably go Andrew. A future first rounder for a guy you rated top 5 in this years for a two spot upgrade with a future second rounder coming back, which Essendon has put on the trade table. From an Ess perspective, we can still have access to players we where gonna select at pick 13 to now at pick 15, we then can either trade back another pick in this years draft by off trading that future GWS pick to a team like Hawthorn who need more first rounders as they're rebuilding. GWS get a player they rated at pick 5 and Andrew, which sets you guys up for the next 15 years. I genuinely believe if Gibcus is not selected by GWS or Gold Coast with their first picks, he's gonna slide imo, no other club i wouldn't imagine takes him apart from Richmond, but i think Hobbs just edges it for them.

I bet you read ‘Choose your own adventure books’ as a kid.

I know it sounds mad, but who else apart from Richmond, Gold Coast or GWS takes Gibcus in the top 10. GWS surely consider Callaghan or Andrew ahead of Gibcus, As do Gold Coast. Richmond needs the profile of a Gibcus but may opt for Hobbs as they just got a stop gap in Tarrant and can get Van Rooyen with their teens pick. Adelaide need a mid, Hawthorn don't need defenders they drafted Denver, Fremantle will go Erasmus & Amiss, St Kilda drafted defenders in last years draft and have Dougal Howard in his prime, West Coast are well into Mathew Johnson and what's the point in Risking getting a non-local prospect. This isn't that far fetched as you think.

I agree on the slide too.
It is possible we would do a trade like that.
I think it is more likely that Essendon would just take who they want at that point though.
but if they had a few guys they rated the same they might suggest it.
A lot has to happen for this to eventuate..

Yeah for now its just pure assumption and guess-work, obviously someone might take him early and this then this becomes irrelevant.

I wouldn't think so...13, 30 for 15, 15

Not "too unreasonable"?

If he is still there at 10, they may throw a future 2nd and 13 to WC.

West Coast wouldn't do that deal, reading their draft board, seems they're super keen on Mathew Johnson, if they trade back he's definitely off the board. So it doesn't make sense to trade back just for a future second rounder. Essendon would accept your future second rounder just for a two spot downgrade if no other club is keen. If Gibcus is on the board, Gold Coast & Richmond i'd imagine would be very interested in Gibcus too, especially with their draft hand, hence you guys gonna have to offer the future first in the deal if this where to occur.

I'd be happy to call bluff, with Port delisting a tall defender I don't think they'd take him and Ess taking Reid last year he's not a need.

If Gibcus slides to 13 he could keep sliding to 15.
If he gets past Gold coast he is a reasonable chance to be there at 15.
Not sure if anyone else will take him.

Holy shit, I hope we are putting more value on our F1 than posters in this thread. We have had pick 5 for the last two years and with a new coach we have the risk of dipping further as we learn the new system.

A premium should be put on pick 2 but a premium needs to be put on our Future 1st as well tbh.

Can't see a fair trade getting done either way here between hawks and GWS, we just can't pay enough to satisfy the risk of moving down to 5 and GWS can't can't pay fair value for an unknown in the F1.

Gibcus if he slides to 13 likely will slide to 15 at least with both Essendon and Port not needing a key defender

However if another team has already lined up a trade with port to get Gibcus then it would be clever to move ahead if Gibcus was someone you really wanted

Id say its safe to say the consensus with GWS fans is they take Gibcus at 15 if available

Its whether or not another team is super interested in him and if they are, target 13 or 14 and likewise if GWS think a team will jump to Port they can secure at 13 by jumping to dons pick position

It really depends how hes rated on clubs draft order. If hes rated 5 and available at 13/14 then a team likely backs themselves in and pays over for that draft position
