Why do some people insist on alliteration in the name?

Of the 17 clubs playing next year, only Sydney, St Kilda, Hawthorn and Port have alliteration.

Also it appears some muppet by the name of james humphrey has registered both gwsgiants.com.au and gwswolves.com.au, obviously in some sort of bid to make some easy cash off the AFL if they wish to purchase these names.

I'm hazarding a guess but I believe this muppet is probably a poster on these forums!!

He probably runs that company that has those "1300 INJURED" ads on SEN all the time... bloody ambulance chasers trying to earn a cheap buck from someone elses expense!

It does sound ridiculous but so are all the alternatives.

Thats assuming it will have 'Sydney' in the name in some form for marketing reasons and 'Western' dropped due to confusion with the dogs and eagles.

Nah, certainly look like they're on the coast to me.

It also allows the team a far greater catchment as they can market from Tweed Head, down to the Vic/NSW border. An alternative could be just Eastern.

I reckon it's stupid having Western Bulldogs, West Coast Eagles and West Sydney in the one comp.

To be fair, whatever name they go with a number of people here will complain. If it's Wolves you get the "Where do you see wolves in NSW?" line and if it's Giants it's too American and copying New York.

They need to create a word that's not common to most people like the Lakers did. That funnel web spider idea was okay, so maybe Webbers? Only problem is that it reminds you of Mark Webber and he's from South-Eastern NSW.

If it is to be Giants, the logo is going to suck donkey, the only thing going in favour of the NY and San Fran varieties is the logo has nothing to do with giants literally.

The football team is just NY and the baseball team out west is a ball with the word Giants across it.

If GWS become the Giants, it'll be some sort of stylised, cartoony giant with a footy, and it'll look ever so awful.

Are we due for another monogram, we've only got one left in Carlton? Let's have a monogram with Giants across it or something, if that'd work.

You just know they're gonna stuff this up.
