Awesome that he can trace his footy heritage back to a VFL player from the early 1900s. His ancestor sounds like he could have been a star even in the modern era. Another thing to inspire big things from the young WHE!
And if that's the mindset of the boys then you have Shiel and Treloar who were both here before Wilbur. Then this makes me happy too.
If you guys manage to hang on to your players this year then I reckon you've just about passed the 'Great Victorian Raid' stage and it probably shows your players are all genuinely buying into the club and want success in West Sydney. An extended list and extra salary cap room obviously helps but you've still got to get everyone on the same page to achieve the ultimate glory. It won't be long before Eddie really starts to get stuck into your club but the AFL is absolutely willing to back your team all the way so there shouldn't be a problem. It's exciting to see an expansion club make the transition from the new boys to a serious chance for finals.

Brisbane early 2000s and Geelong mid-late 2000s all had players who stayed at less than their market rate because of the team. Club management have been building on and off field for that.

Is there some kind of stupid obligation that players MUST take the biggest contract put in front of their face? Or are they actually allowed to make their own decision on where they want to play and not let the money be the only factor?
