That's ok. Good luck getting him in the draft if goes into it. If we can work out a trade (ala Treloar) then that's fine too. But after his contract is finished, he's free to do whatever he wants. That was my point. Don't have a problem either way.

You see, I come from a Rugby League state, and while you may not understand/like the game - I'm used to having players from my club sign contracts with other clubs a long way out. So I know, as a fan, they're not going to be there next year. I also then watch them put in week in week out (and I cheer them on) because they're professionals.

Look at Dangerfield this year. He almost certainly knew that he probably wouldn't be in Adelaide next year - went out and won their B&F.

I'm a realist. I know McCarthy won't be a one club player. I know he will most probably end up at Freo. But at the moment he plays for my club and I will cheer him on every time he gets near it. And if he is a professional, and wants to enhance his reputation, he'll do his best while he is here.

Sadly some of your fellow Freo supporters don't seem to think he is a professional. It seems I have a higher opinion of him than you do.

As much as everyone (especially Freo fans) got wound up about no trade happening for McCarthy, Dockers simply didn't have the currency to make it worthwhile. Barring injury, and with continued improvement, McCarthy will be worth every bit of Freo's first round pick for 2 years plus Ross Lyon's cutlery set in the trade period next year.

Yeah he's knob, i remember last year he thought Ross Lyon was a dick for hating on Mitch Clarke, when we'd got shafted on him aswell (before he left footy) bagging freo out after we made an stupid error on him. End of the day I'd love cam at freo, yeah he's homesick people will forget that.. But he's contracted end of the day if it happened to Fyfe we'd be wild. Just hopefully the GWS guys don't give him to much shit for what happened and he hates the club

Can't see him hating the club, after all they recruited him and helped him develop to show the promise he now has.
As for the fans, I would be very surprised if there were jeers / boos when he is taking marks and kicking goals to help us win.

Giants fans don't boo, pretty much ever, unlike the Freo scum that turned up for finals games this year. Cam will be fine and feeling warm and fuzzy, we wont break him for your 2017 campaign, but boy will he know the difference between a crowd that loves football and a crowd that loves drink.

Go back through the thread and you'll find out how we'll react. Nobody, but nobody (except Freo fans) have said he'll be treated poorly. He's one of ours (for the time being) and we cheer our own.

Maybe by 2019 or 2020 when we finally get a home game against Freo and he's running around in purple it might be a bit different - but until then? Good day Sunshine!

I agree but I think Treloar will be the real test on us booing. When we play Carlton though it will be like an intra club.

We just need him to do a Mitch Johnson - get a girlfriend from Sydney who doesn't get on with his mum. I will still cheer him as I love the way he plays and he still is a Giant for now.

Well given all you hoyty toyty traditional clubs who like to boast about your massive crowd numbers and poke fun at ours, it's pretty easy to see at spotless stadium if there are idiots resorted to bad behaviour.

I've attended nearly every sydney home game and I have seen the crowd boo the umpires when they're heavily biased, however I've never seen us boo the players. Even when they play badly, they are clapped off the ground.

You guys, and your west coast cousins however, have a reputation for being a@%#oles. Just because booing a wantaway player is something you bottom feeders routinely resort to, doesn't mean we will.
