I don't think there is any doubt that any of it "might be true".

There is a world of doubt that Lumumba's time at Collingwood was anything like he has characterised it.

Several players have mentioned the nickname chimp was used and stopped as soon as he raised it (which took 8 years most of which was under Malthouse)

This is neither here nor there, but who the **** thought it was a good idea to call a black guy "Chimp" in the first place, even in a pre-PC world?

Héritier Lumumba has called out the AFL, and Collingwood Football Club (In particular Eddie Maguire and Nathan Buckley) after he was condemned by the club for speaking out against Maguire's racist comments in 2013. He also speaks of a racist nickname he had from 2005 to 2013 as well as using hallucinogens to cope with anxiety and the distress that had arrived from said comments. He has said that neither Collingwood or the AFL had the capacity or the desire to deal with the concerns that he brought up.


It's a horrible look for Collingwood and very very disappointing that something like this happened and that it was ignored by both the club and the league

I thought this was all finished, this man still carries wounds , some might say chips. But should he not get on with his life , it is August 2020 and we are still talking about Heritier's bad time and perceieved racism against him still.

I have no idea why he was called chimp at Collingwood, but one of the greatest players ever Bobby Skilton was known as that for years.

To deal with the concerns he brought up? I thought he had been apologised to, and he was moving on, yet this is still going on.Now.

Lumumba should be given the benefit of the doubt, in this situation, but he has a track record of being extremely self-righteous, and creating controversy for personal gain;if people want to take the 'boy who cried wolf' approach, until the investigation is complete, then I can't blame them.

These are horrid accusations, but equally horrid is the concept of falsely piggy-backing off race-related issues in order to further personal gains. I'm of the belief that Lumumba wouldn't do this, and that he should be supported through this investigative process. However, if it turns out he's lying, then surely his name is scrubbed from all relevancy from here on in.

He's saying that he'll let the review that's happening take place. Not denying the claims, nor accepting them as there is an investigation which is about to begin which is supposed to draw an impartial judgement. Lumumba however, who is not currently a part of the investigation has denied these claims.
