Heritier Lumumba gave Scott Pendlebury permission over nickname at centre of racism claims

Disgruntled Collingwood premiership player Heritier Lumumba gave permission for Scott Pendlebury to call him ‘Chimp’.
Foxfooty.com.au can reveal Pendlebury was instructed by Lumumba that it was OK to refer to him using a nickname which he has since come out and admonished.
It is unclear whether Lumumba may have allowed Pendlebury - and potentially other teammates – to use the nickname in a bid to fit in and cope with what he now says was a culture festered with discrimination.
The club’s current investigation into the matter is expected to uncover the precise nature of why Lumumba volunteered for teammates to refer to him as ‘Chimp’ and how widely it was used as his nickname across an eight-year stretch.
Lumumba and Pendlebury were not available for comment.

That's gotta be the most risky rhetorical question I've seen for a while...what planet are these people on
The same planet as those people who said....'We dont know what we have given our players but it is ok"“He said we could call him chimp!”
Is this for real? That’s actually what they’re going with?
what planet are these people on
It's easy to point at one idiot in the crowd and paint everyone with the same brush. This post is spot on. There have been many indigenous players over the years who have been not only accepted but loved by the football community. The players mentioned above are examples of the quality we've seen, and I cannot recall anyone booing or shouting racist obscenities to those players. It only seems to take one idiot in the crowd to hurl a racist remark, and suddenly there's massive problem with racism in football? I don't believe there is, or at least anywhere near the degree some people may have us believe.
Whenever his mouth is moving he is lying.Well this article here.. he says Collingwood supported him through is problems. So it is interesting that he is now saying they didn't support him. Did he lie back in 2013? or is he lying now? Because it can't be both options.
Spot on and to be fair to HL information has been leaked so probably right not to trust the process. My understanding is that Collingwood (quite rightly by the way) have referred their investigation to an external party but that HL declined to be involved.
is that the current status?
I hope the artist formerly known as recovers it appears he still hasn't got over the loss of Mohammed Ali. I hope his "younger brother" Chol supports him during these troubled times.
No. Distraction Not just for our club, the AFL. The AFL is racist according to the artist. I hope he finds a job in la and can move on with his life and forget about his trauma of Mohammed Ali, Barack Obama , and some random dead guy he saw in BrazilI get why you might not like him and him speaking out is a massive distraction at your club, but aren't you a little worried that any of it might be true?
So he led with chimp as the bad word, now comes up with lots of other really bad words when proven he allowed the word chimp ......

Not sure it was proven he allowed Chimp but very strange he comes up with worse things never mentioned before when he seems to want more attention. Bit of a pattern with Harry. So he led with chimp as the bad word, now comes up with lots of other really bad words when proven he allowed the word chimp ......

He is now known as chUmp apparentlyI don't think there is any doubt that any of it "might be true".
There is a world of doubt that Lumumba's time at Collingwood was anything like he has characterised it.
Several players have mentioned the nickname chimp was used and stopped as soon as he raised it (which took 8 years most of which was under Malthouse)
Sigh. Freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequence.Freedom of speech includes "offensive" speech, otherwise no different from china or N Korea which do allow fos as long as it's "nice".
All this snowflake precious anti freedom of speech was part of the plan for decades leading to this push for global enslavement.
Snowflakes should move to china and see how they like it. Instead of trying to turn once freedom loving countries into China.
Sigh. Freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequence.
surely “freedom of speech” has to be the most misused phrase in the world
It has turned full circle - those most offended are those called out and can not handle this, I am allowed to be racist!!! Don't offend me and call me a racist.
