Good to see Will returning fire, although given who his dad is, i'd have contemplated legal action against Dermott.

Whilst Will was a tad disrespectul, Dermie was totally out of line when he practically labelled Will a coward, after Will had been knocked unconcious.

At least Dermie did have the testicular fortitude to admit he was wrong, didn't apologise though.

No, the fact that virtually every other commentator and journalist in the game disagreed with Brereton, and that in Slade's other seven games he has been hard as nails kind of suggests to me that Dermott Brereton has, in fact, no FU(KING idea. Slade did right in defending himself, and if that makes him a handbagger in your eyes then I suggest you think again.

You can say what you like about Slade's youth, inexperience and relatively small build, but when Dermie questioned his honor he crossed a fine line. Slade had every right to hit back; he was not defending himself as a footballer but as a human being. And I think he earned himself a lot of respect, which is more than I can say for Brereton.

Brereton offers a different opinion. Most columnists rehash old ideas from others journalists. Much like on TV. What he says is mostly shyte, but at least he's not sprouting the same old cliches when he commentates. I see Dermie like this - the idea is right, the execution is poor.

Actually, Dermie was proved wrong weeks ago, which prompted his admission live on Channel 9.

Will was merely offering an 'opinion', which, unlike Dermott's, actually has some merit.

Read again and you will see that I said that the fact that Slade called Dermie an idiot does not expose him in any way, or does not prove that he is right or wrong. I haven't seen the incident and wouldn't have a clue who is right or wrong, Slades comments don't change that a bit.

As for the handbags at ten paces, it is a common reference to a bit of a nothing fight, and is nothing to do with the Geelong reputation at all (convenient though).

Of course one could question what right a person has who stomped on another players head during a game to question someone else's integrity and courage.
