I'd always had a quite a bit of respect for McVeigh throughout his career, never been an unlikeable player and usually did his job very effectively

However, having a full on whinge about something as harmless and trivial as a peck on the cheek in jest has certainly lost him points

Noone died and noone was seriously hurt

Okay he may have felt disrespected by the action, but was hitting the guy the correct response to that? Absolutely not

I'm sure the whinge was only in the heat of the post match and due to the fact that his team lost. Its natural to palm off the blame to everything/everyone else
how up himself must he be to call it "disrespectful" though. Turd, who the fudge u think u are?

what is it with Hawk players and kissing opponents? Dermie, Hodge and now Langers. Other then Merv sticking his tongue down AB's ear, I don't think I've ever seen it on the sporting field.

Knowing Langers, my take on it is that he did what he thought would ruffle McVeigh's feathers the most, and it worked. Instead of responding to aggro with more aggro he decided to do the opposite and plant the kiss. Sort of weird thing Langers would do but it clearly had the desired effect.

Was the Langers' kissing McVeigh thing related to the sledge from Sac Jones in the 1st Quarter?

I.e. after what jones said, was Langers playing on that & acting it out on mcveigh?

I know before last night's game there was some pregame talk, Papley talking of targeting players and Clarko saying something about having the wood on the Swans (I didn't read the article but I think I saw the headline on afl.com).

Did he do something similar for round 10?

Anyway, Clarko must've planned all that, knowing they'd be caught up in making their mark and coached for it. He knew the Swans would get too caught up in the niggle. I can't think of any other teams Clarko does that performance for.

I reckon Langford's heart is filled with double the normal amount of courage. His fearless, head first charge on the loose ball earns him a spot in my opinion. I reckon his kicking will come good. He was previously quite reliable. He'll get there again.
Exactly. You can't teach what he has. You can improve a person's kicking though.

I wouldn't complain if I got a kiss from Langers :D :p

Seriously though, it does seem a bit pathetic from McVeigh. Legacy of all those years under serial whinger Goodes perhaps?
I never had a problem with Goodes, but yes it seems quite petty from McVeigh.

Would you rather: two kisses on the cheek, or a poke in the eye and a coathanger elbow to the head? I didn't hear Hodge talk about disrespect after the game.

Langford clearly got under his skin, without hurting him or insulting him personally. I'm surprised that McVeigh couldn't cop something that small, it wouldn't have fazed our experienced guys, I'd think.

Ah yeah, forgot about that. Could've been. Forget my theory! (Still a Langers kind of thing though if that's the case, he would have the mental edge on a lot of opposition neanderthal types).

****en idiot and his teammates actually plan to talk trash and target opposition players but can't take a bit back.

He reacted to being kissed the first time by giving a free kick away. Langford's tactic worked. Deal with it, dickhead.
SYDNEY veteran Jarrad McVeigh has branded Hawk Will Langford "disrespectful" for kissing him during Hawthorn's upset win at the MCG on Friday night.
Respect has to be earned. It's a bit presumptuous of McVeigh for thinking Langford has to respect him.

His kicking has always been his undoing. He still has not really improved his accuracy by foot over the last two years. Maybe slightly.

He strikes me as a kind of Tom Campbell or Ladson or Gilham. He's a good squad player but will get displaced as the youngsters around him improve beyond his level.
Ladson and Gilham were good field kicks. And how about the Ladson's goal in 2008 GF, from 50m!?

If I was solely relying on our media to inform me today of last night's game, all I would know at this point is that Langford kissed McVeigh last night in a game featuring Hawthorn and Sydney.
I'd still be wondering who won the game.

Yes, but the kissing thing is the reason the Swans lost.

So it needs to be publicised.

Well considering the only piece of the coaches presser that was released was about the goal review process you would be quite right. Crickets and tumbleweeds about the game itself other than robbo of course who apparently said that you can't read too much into Sydney losing

When he ****** up his kick in defence then proceeded to win the ball back, get a hands off which we fumbled and then run across and another the ball putting out of bounds for a throw...I just applauded the bloke for fixing his mistake...takes a lot of heart to do that kind of stuff

Basically that moment to me epitomised what every Hawthorn player should do. If you makea mistake, and you will, because you are human, double down and work as hard as you can to nullify it. Then move on and continue to play hard.

So much respect for McEvoy with the heart his puts into his footy.

It's pretty funny that for all the swans pre-game talk about roughing up and being aggressive toward our players and trying to get inside their heads ( unsuccessful). Langers got inside the head of the swans most experienced player with the least aggressive act possible.

Langers smiling right up close into mcveighs face cracks me up .... hes a madman he makes sicily look normal
Langers getting into character for gameday:

Whats more he has outed McViegh's homophobia and or personal insecurities!

I think McVeigh is overreacting, but I also think it is harsh to say he's being homophobic. Only a small step from there to claiming a woman complaining about an unrequested kiss is a man-hater. I wouldn't like turning up to work and have someone I didn't know or like trying to kiss me, no matter what their gender.

Jones on the other hand (if the reports on what he said are accurate) should be hung out to dry in the media for his clearly homophobic taunt, and I'm not sure why this isn't happening already.
