His first half was horrific. Redeemed himself with the goal and a few solid efforts in the last qtr.

We can't play him in defence if he is continually going to give away goals with dumb decision making and poor foot skills.

I can't see where else he fits into the team. He is not going to get a game up forward.

His first half was the worst half of football from a senior player you'll ever see. That goal was great and he did some real good things after that too. Hopefully that goal was the catalyst of him getting out of the rut he was in

He should at the very least be capable of playing a Daniel Rich type role, hitting targets by foot with precision from 10-50m at any arc.

Rich is not strong defensively but still manages to get a lot of metres gained. I think the coaches rely on Houston and Amon for that long kicking down the field.

Pretty sure the ability to accurately hit up targets is why they rate Bonner so highly too.

I come in ✌️ peace as I have been not the biggest fan of Hammer and it’s understandable that he is still loved 💗 by other Port supporters.
After that indescribable clanger (by the way unforced) in the 2nd quarter I with thousands other were baying for his blood but I noticed the support that he was getting from his teammates - which is the most important thing.
His game slowly improved from that moment and he was absolutely mobbed by his teammates after he slotted that incredible 3rd Q goal. I think the whole 17 were around him. Another telling moment of team solidarity. After that his game was pretty error free. We could sort of relax when he was near the ball.
Yes, he is still skating on thin ice and his selection next week against Carlton is sort of assured due to team injuries but any more slips ups then it’s back to the 2’s for good.

Could we move Hammer further up the ground and take Duursma’s wing role and Burgmann slot down back?

Hammers kicking out of defence has been shocking all year and caused so many turnover goals. Let’s get him further up the ground and open him up for some more of those 60m shots on goal.

Otherwise, he needs to be dropped but injuries may prevent that

First half was absolutely shocking. Two direct open field turnovers that led to Richmond goals. Horrendous, a complete liability.

He certainly improved in the 2nd half and the goal was a great finish, but we might have been a few more goals up at half time with Bergman in his place. I think he probably keeps his place because of his 2nd half but if they decide to drop him I won't be surprised either.

His first half was horrific - one of the worst halves I'll ever see by a port defender in recent memory.

Once he got the ripper goal his confidence lifted and he was a lot of assured of himself out there. Deserves another week but by no means is he an automatic selection in the side anymore. If he has another of those 1st halves in coming games he simply can't stay in the side.
