Not a troll but to all you Richmond fans you must stick tight!
You guys are in the same position we (the Demons) were in only two years ago!
Whilst we still have a fair way to go,our future looks alot more promising now than what did only say 12 months ago!
The Richmond recruiting staff must get it right with the no 4 pick in this years draft plus trade smart & potentially unearth a Michael Barlow or James Podsiadlly type of player!
Watching the Adelaide game i liked the way Richmond went about it,the last quarter fade out was disappointing but how many time have the Crows done that to opposition teams at AAMI Stadium over the years!

Quality post. We'll probably get picks 4 and 6. We have some talented talls such as Post, Gourdis, Taylor and Griffiths(hopefully his shoulder is ok) to come into the side during the 2nd half of the season. Astbury is doing pretty well. Took a nice strong mark yesterday which will really lift his confidence. Once we have these talls as regular members of the team, we'll look alot more dangerous. We may get the best midfielder in the draft if GC go for 3 talls. Would love to get another Dustin Martin

If we don't win more than 4 games we get pick 6 also

That is next year.

This year, we will get pick 28 or something, as a priority pick, if we win 4 or less.

EDIT: MT you are on this forum as much as anyone, surely you realise by now that we cannot get 4 & 6 this coming draft?!
It has been explained like 100 times already :p

Where have you been the last 30 years? We have stuck tight for ever and will continue to be here no matter what.
If there is one thing that we cannot be accused of then that's not being loyal. We put other supporters to shame.

Wonder what MT would act like if we won a premiership?

24/7 stiffy.

I wonder what Big Footy would be like if MT actually knew what he was talking about ;-) love your enthusiasm MT!

Just to set you straight: we won't get pick 4 and 6 as we are not eligible for it this year. We are only eligible for a priority at the start of the second round this year. It's next year if we win less than 4.5 in 2010 and 2011 that we will be eligible.

And GC have already take the best midfielder who they will draft at the end of this year - Swallow. If you take a look he has been playing with GC all year but is not eligible to be drafted until the end of this season.

Anyway the OP is spot on. If we stick together it will make the next couple of years a lot better. The Demons are on an upwards curve all due to riding the bumps and not taking any short cuts. Hopefully this is our fate.

Hey On the bench,
**** off back to the Dees board.
The last thing I feel like now is sympathy for a Melbourne supporter. FFS we will support the Tiges no matter what!!
Carn Tiges..:thumbsu:

Off the bench made a reasonable point. It's good to have the perspective of outsiders occassionally, especially when it is constructive.

That may be true but all he stated is what we all know. Sorry mate but we require no sympathy from a Dees suporter..
We will 'Stick tight' like we always do...:thumbsu:

Yeah, pardon my poor manners, but I'm sick of the so-called sympathy. It always seems to come from clubs that are on the rise, where the supporters trot on over and give us a few condescending pats on the head.

"I know what it's like," they say, "because my team used to be bad, not like now of course, when they're awesome."

oh ok
I'm just going by what others said in here. Not overly fussed
The main thing is we get pick 4 anyway and we'll pick a midfielder.

how would you know we will pick a midfielder? if there is a ruckmen, tall forward or back that looks better i'd take them. we get 2 second round picks so we can get 2 mids there.

So, according to you 'tanking' isn't a short cut?

I just hope RFC ensure that we actually get our PP at the start of the round (like the rules state) and not after the GC pick. It will set an important precedent in case we find ourselves qualifying for the first round PP next year.

Cheers dude, goodluck with your mob they might be able to scrape into the 8 at their rate.

Quality post. We'll probably get picks 4 and 6.

Wrong MT. We will get pick 4 for finishing last and nothing else. We need pick 6 also, but we will not get it as the AFL will not provide us a priority pick, even though the situation we are in right now is the reason the priority pick was introduced.

We get pick 4 for finishing last this year and if the rules remain as they are this year for next year we'll then get picks 4 & 6 if we finish last and win 4 games or less in both years.

I'll say it again. Why picks 4 and 6? Why shouldn't it be 1 and 5. The PP comes at the beginning of the round. It always has. I don't want any extra concessions but I don't want to see us screwed out of what every other team gets. It should be the PP then GC's 3 picks and then our pick at 5.

And I hate that I'm talking about this as though it's a foregone conclusion that we win less than 5 games next year as well as this year. But it's a strong possibility and we deserve fair treatment.
