You mentioned it was more than just the #2 & #20 that i thought it was and the comparison would be similar

Playing as basically the sole midfielder in a bottom 4 team at 19 and gets unfairly targeted and treated by opposition players and fans.

If he was playing for a top 8 team he’d be averaging 25 and a goal easily. Can’t all be Daicos and Sheezel running around getting uncontested ball for fun.

Averaging 25 touches is no mean feat, i don't think he has the tank to get anywhere near that at the moment. And that's even with 70% CBA's, so it's not as if he's not around the football

His averages are way down on even last year, so i don't buy into the idea that it's anything to do with the team he's in

Based on his attitude yesterday I’d be shocked if he is still at WCE next year. Doesn’t look to be enjoying himself at all. The flog attitude also needs to go, at least until he becomes a top player in the league. If he was acting like a flog but dominating I’d cheer him on.

Well winning your own ball is one thing but having the team around you to get handball receives and players hitting you up is another.

For him to currently be average 25 touches a game he’d also be needing to average 20-25 contested possessions a game. ie. get most of them himself from a stoppage.

That and he’s an easy target for the opposition and easy to throw of his game. Who else would they put attention into? As opposed to sitting 2nd or 3rd in line at another club and having it far easier.

Sheezel went to an all Jewish High school, never played in the AGS and APS and played junior football at Ajax, an all Jewish football club who have had 1 player drafted in about 40 years. Ezra Poyes.

Kelly averaged almost 6 clearances per game last year which was just outside the top 20 in the AFL.

Yeo was the #6 clearance mid in the league in 2024, more than LDU and Bont.

Yeo 54% CP ratio - consistent with all the best inside mids in the league.

Kelly 46% CP ratio - the same as Neale, Serong, Newcombe.

He's actually played next to, two very good, experienced, ball winnings midfielders last year. Not often #1 picks get that opportunity actually.

What top 8 team does Sheezel play for?

End of the day Reid has turned up out of shape and the 2 you mentioned above are ultra professionals and therefore have no need to give anyone the bird when offered some tissues. Reids slow start to the year is 100% on him.

Fair, those are some decent numbers, but also I think they can be misleading.

Watching our games last year we wouldn’t have had many clean clearances and a lot of those would have just been hacks out of stoppages. ie no handball receives to boost disposal numbers.

So Reid’s overall numbers take a bit of a hit unless he starts playing equal to Yeo and Kelly and winning his own ball on their level.

Kelly and Yeo themselves only averaged 23 and 22 touches a game in 2024 which, despite good clearance number, is 4 or 5 down on most other top end mids.

Reid himself averaged 18, 4 clearances and 0.5 goals a game which is unbelievable when using those two as a reference point. Adjusting for team average that could look something like 22, 6 and 0.75.
