Never been one more deserved. Eddie reckoned we got our priority pick with Beams, I reckon we got it with Andrews, he is that good.
THE 'GO-HOME' factor has loomed large at the Brisbane Lions recently, but the Queensland club can be confident of rebuilding around one young gun – Harris Andrews.
Andrews, who has been named the round 18 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee, is a Lions Academy product who played his entire junior career of more than 200 games for Aspley, in Brisbane's northern suburbs.
It makes the 18-year-old just the type of player the Lions can pin their future on for the next decade or more.
"I spent 12 years at Aspley, I think, from when I was about five (years old)," Andrews told AFL.com.au.
"Brisbane's my home; it's where my family, friends and school friends (are). I love Brisbane and it's a great place to be."
Yay!.....2 in a row?
paps has played too many games to be eligible.unfortunately Cripps and Hogan have been talked up wayy too much by the Melbourne media to miss out...however maybe another couple nominees? Dawson and Paps?
he had played less than 10 games at the startt of this year im pretty sure, which is the main criteria along with less than 4 years in the systempaps has played too many games to be eligible.
Paparone played 18 last year alone. 5 in his first year. So he had 23 games next to his name heading into this season.he had played less than 10 games at the startt of this year im pretty sure, which is the main criteria along with less than 4 years in the system

Best key defender: Harris Andrews; 14 matches; 22 goals conceded; 1.63 goals conceded every 120 minutes
It's been an incredible first season for the Lions Academy product, who was rewarded this week with a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination. There must be a disclaimer in these numbers that Andrews played his first handful of games as a key forward, but even factoring that in, he's the Lions' best key post man in 2015, losing just 10 of his 36 one-on-one contests (27.8 per cent). A special mention goes to Justin Clarke, who is conceding just 2.36 goals per 120 minutes, despite almost always getting the best forward.

Harris Andrews. Twelve months ago he was barely on the Lions' radar, but Andrews' development has been stunning. Still just 18, the 200cm defender has fitted into senior footy like an old pro. He is composed beyond his years, reads the play well and arguably has the safest hands at the club.
Rising Star nominee Harris Andrews has signed a contract extension that will see him stay with the Brisbane Lions until at least the end of 2018
And in more good news for the Club, rugged backman Ryan Harwood has also signed a two-year contract extension, to the end of 2017.
Queenslander Andrews, who was already contracted for 2016, has put pen to paper for an additional two years.
Standing at 200cm, Andrews' height and athleticism have seen him become a key young player for the Club in 17 games since his AFL debut in Round 3 against Richmond at the Gabba.
“Brisbane is where I want to be, I’ve really enjoyed it here at the Club and this is my home,” said Andrews, who spent his entire junior football career (more than 200 games) with the Aspley Juniors in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
“It’s been a pretty crazy 12 months – this time last year I was really nervous going into the Draft Combine wondering if I’d get picked up. I was lucky enough to get picked up by Brisbane and injuries have given me an opportunity to play Senior footy and I’ve just learnt so much.
“The Academy system fast-tracked my progression. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the Academy and the first testing day that I was invited to – the Academy has been massive for me.”
